Full Speed Ahead: Viv Rozar’s Journey as a Young Athlete
At just 13, Viv shines in soccer, track, and more—proving that hard work, passion, and positivity can take you far on and off the field.
At just 13 years old, Viv Rozar is already making a name for herself as a multi-sport athlete at Avon Middle School. Whether she’s sprinting around the track, racing through cross-country courses, taking the field for soccer, or hitting the links, Viv brings energy, focus, and determination to everything she does.
Viv’s athletic journey began early—she’s been playing soccer since she was just three years old. Today, she shines as a left and right wing on the soccer field, while also excelling as a mid-distance runner in track. Her natural talent and dedication have led her to branch out into other sports as well, including golf and flag football.
When it comes to role models, Viv looks up to Keely Hodgkinson, an accomplished middle-distance runner known for her competitive spirit. Locally, she credits Mr. Burns, one of her favorite teachers and mentors, for encouraging her to push herself and keep improving. Viv practices regularly at Schwartz Park, a variety of tracks and cross-country courses, Red Tail, and T3, always working to sharpen her skills.
Her dedication has already brought plenty of exciting experiences. Viv has traveled across states like Michigan and Pennsylvania for soccer tournaments and even met professional golfer John Daly, Chris DeMarco, & Justin Leonard at Firestone Country Club while representing RedTail's Jr. PGA team playing in a tournament. On the track, she’s competed in multiple races—most notably earning 1st and 2nd place finishes at Track Championships, as well as running her first-ever race and winning it.
For Viv, the most rewarding part of sports isn’t just the medals, but the friendships and support along the way. “If you have a good mindset, you will have a good run,” she says, reflecting on one of the biggest lessons she’s learned. She values the encouragement of teammates and the camaraderie of training and competing together.
Looking ahead, Viv dreams of attending The Ohio State University, where she hopes to continue both her education and her passion for athletics. Her advice for anyone interested in starting a new sport? “Practice pays off.”
With her drive, talent, and positive outlook, Viv Rozar is a young athlete to watch—and an inspiration to her peers both on and off the field.
