Homegrown Expertise
A North Ridgeville native turns lifelong experience into trusted home repair solutions
Joe McNamara has always called North Ridgeville home. A 2006 graduate of North Ridgeville High School, Joe has spent nearly all of his 37 years here. Today, he and his wife, Amber, live just a few miles from where he grew up, raising their two sons, Kayden and Colton, on Jaycox Road.
"My parents grew up here, I grew up here, and now my boys are growing up here," Joe shares. "It's a safe community, and the weather keeps you on your toes—never too extreme, but never boring either."
After high school, Joe jumped straight into the construction trades, working his way from apprentice to journeyman, and eventually managing commercial projects as a foreman across the Cleveland area. "After a decade in the industry, I realized I had more to offer," he says. That realization led to the founding of A+ Joints with Amber in 2019, a company specializing in high-rise joint sealants.
In August 2024, during a vacation with his childhood friend Zach Logan, the next chapter unfolded. Zach, a union carpenter and lead roofer at NASA Glenn Research Center, had also been remodeling homes for years. Together, they decided to combine their skills and open A.W.F.S. Systems. "It was one of those conversations where everything just clicked," Joe recalls.
By October 2024, A.W.F.S. Systems was up and running, initially focusing on commercial projects like waterproofing and fire-rated wall installations in Cleveland. At the same time, they were also rehabbing a home back in North Ridgeville. Over the winter, Joe and Zach focused on training and onboarding with new systems to prepare for expanding their residential services.
A.W.F.S. Systems specializes in full exterior home repairs and remodels, with a particular emphasis on roofing and siding repairs caused by weather damage. What sets them apart is a blend of old-school workmanship and new technology. They offer free roof inspections using a smart drone nicknamed “Gizmo,” which surveys rooftops to detect hidden issues without anyone needing to climb up.
"We believe in showing our worth through honest and exceptional work," Joe says. "But we’re also not afraid to embrace the latest innovations if it means better results for our customers."
Joe stresses the importance of routine inspections. "We’ve had major wind and hail storms almost every year for the past two decades. It only takes one bad shingle to let water into your home. Annual inspections are a simple way to catch problems early," he advises.
One repair that sticks with Joe involved a woman named Julie in Red Tail. "She had moisture problems that weren't obvious at first," he explains. "We found that her home's veneer stones were soaking up water and that a small imperfection in a window trim piece was letting moisture in. If you see stone getting darker or notice minor cosmetic changes near your windows, it’s a good idea to get it checked out before it becomes something bigger."
At A.W.F.S. Systems, the philosophy is simple but powerful: Our Systems, Your Solutions. For those facing roofing, siding, or water damage concerns, Joe extends an open invitation to his neighbors to reach out. "We're here to help protect your biggest investment – your home," he says. With A.W.F.S. Systems on the job, Red Tail residents can rest easy knowing their homes are in capable, caring hands.
