A Star Is Born: Kylie Cantrall
Proud Red Tail Grandparents: Phyllis and Jim Cantrall Celebrate Disney Star Granddaughter Kylie
For more than 25 years, Phyllis and Jim Cantrall have called Red Tail home. In that time, they’ve watched neighbors’ children grow up, celebrated milestones, and shared countless memories within the community. But one family member has been growing up in the national spotlight—literally.
Their granddaughter, Kylie Cantrall, is quickly becoming one of Disney’s brightest stars. The daughter of their son Alex, a Los Angeles–based record producer, and a mother who is a professional dancer from Venezuela, Kylie was practically born into show business. “She grew up in a recording studio and started dance lessons the day after she was potty trained,” Jim says with a laugh. “It’s been her world from the very beginning.”
A Star on the Rise
Kylie first captured attention at just 11 years old with her YouTube channel Hello Kylie, and she was soon featured as the face of Target’s Christmas ad campaign. By 12, she landed her first big Disney role as Gabby in Gabby Duran and the Unsittables. Today, Kylie stars as Red in the hit Descendants franchise film The Rise of Red.

Her popularity has skyrocketed—her character’s costume was the top-selling Halloween costume last year, and she even has a Mattel doll made in her likeness.
Currently, Kylie is performing in the 43-city Descendants/Zombies Worlds Collide arena tour, featuring seven of Disney’s biggest stars. Phyllis and Jim recently got to see her perform live at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on August 13th—and even enjoyed some backstage time with their superstar granddaughter.
Show Biz Runs in the Family
With a father who writes and produces music and a mother who dances professionally, Kylie’s path to entertainment seemed inevitable. They had a private party at Red Tail when Kylie was about ten. She sang and performed for all of the guests—she’s been comfortable on stage from day one.

Now, Kylie’s career extends beyond Disney. She’s also a rising pop star with a newly released album, continuing to build her own identity as an artist.
Still the Same Granddaughter at Heart
Despite the fame, Kylie has always stayed close to her family. She’s visited Red Tail many times over the years, trading the bright lights of Los Angeles for the warmth of her grandparents’ home. Her grandparents, Jim and Phyllis, certainly are proud and for good reasons!

For neighbors who want to see Kylie in action, her tour performances and Disney projects are featured on YouTube and across the internet. And if you were wondering—yes, the Red costume might have made another appearance on neighborhood doorsteps this past Halloween.
