Thunk, thunk, thunk, the sound the ball makes as it dribbles down the court has been a part of Callen’s life for as long as he can remember. 

    Callen, a junior at Timpview High School, comes from a long line of talented ball players. His grandfathers both played basketball, one was recruited to play at BYU, however he chose to serve a mission. And the other played for Utah State University.  While he also had a great uncle play for BYU.  Callen had quite the role models which inspired him to try his hardest and be the best player he could be. 

    Callen plays several different positions on his basketball team. Including small forward, which is a flexible position that assists with rebounds, as well as ball handling along with the guards. A power forward which focuses on rebounding, protecting the basket, and scoring. Callen also plays as center, which is similar to the power forward position, but stays close to the basket. He is hoping to be efficient in the guard position one day as well. 

Basketball takes a lot of hard work each and every day to be your absolute best, for you, and for your team. This hard work has contributed to his proudest moment, when he first dunked a basketball! He has his family to thank but especially his parents and coaches for helping him improve and progress along the way.

Basketball isn’t just a sport, there are so many elements that make up the game. Callen enjoys being with his friends and feeling the love and joy he has for it. Even the love from the crowds help by making the game more electric!

Family is extremely important to Callen, he has many amazing people in his life. One who he looks up to is his older sister Lexie. She is currently serving a mission in Madrid, Spain. Callen is so grateful for her example and hard work to help him be able to prepare for his mission. 

Basketball is a huge part of his life, and one of his favorite things to do. Besides sports Callen will do almost anything fun and adventurous. He loves hiking, pickle-ball, camping and any type of game.

  Callen has put in a lot of hard work and dedication into Basketball. He hopes to continue to follow his dreams by winning a state championship, go on a mission, and play college basketball someday. Basketball brings him so much joy almost every time he plays it. He knows if you decide to try basketball, you will feel joy and passion too!
