Boy's Tennis Team Wins State Title - BIG NEWS!

Timpview High School reached a historic milestone in May 2025, capturing its 100th Utah state championship title. The Thunderbirds’ boys tennis team clinched the 5A state crown at Liberty Park on May 10, marking Timpview’s 19th boys tennis championship – and the school’s 100th overall state earned championship.
There are five of the boys that have played all four years of high school tennis. This year, Timpview was favored to win state with a deep competitive roster. In fact, some of the toughest matches came from within the team itself, as talented teammates pushed each other to their limits.
The parents couldn't be prouder of the boys. They felt as though they were playing on the court right along with the boys. They felt they were on the court at each of the tournaments. Abbie Gregory said, "As a mom, I would carry the stress and pressure of the match, having no control of the outcome".

As in most sports tennis is a zero-sum game. One player wins and the other one loses. The team has given all that they had and they all left everything on the court. They are all winners for giving it their all.
Abbie said "The world is so much bigger than a tennis court, and our son's worth is not measured by wins and loses. Still, the lessons learned on the court are incredibly valuable. Tennis like so many other sports helps young men learn discipline, integrity, teamwork, and work ethic along with the emotional resilience to handle both victory and defeat."

With tennis being the most successful sport at the school, the boys were ecstatic to bring home the state title. They all knew going into the state tournament that they had a chance to win the schools 100th state title.
The T-Birds were behind Highland in the team scores most of the day Saturday but won individual titles in No. 3 singles and then both doubles teams.
Congratulations to the entire team on a great season!
