87th Azalea Trail: Branch Out with The River Oaks Garden Club

The River Oaks Garden Club’s 87th Azalea Trail “Branch Out” was another successful stroll through the gardens of River Oaks last month.  The Trail, which featured the Bayou Bend Home and Gardens, the Rienzi Home and Gardens, The Forum of Civics building and four private gardens throughout the neighborhood, was fortunate to have mild Spring weather all weekend and hundreds of people trekking around the fabulous gardens. The Club truly “branched out” with beautiful flower arrangements on trees, benches and throughout gardens as well as adorning the arch of an 18th century French chapel in the back yard of one of the homes. Inside the chapel, the Club featured a bride and bridal veil with delphinium petals attached to the veil and a wedding cake made of flowers.

Since 1935 when the Azalea Trail was founded, the purpose of it has been to educate the public on architecture, flower arranging and horticultural possibilities in our region.  Trail proceeds are given back to the community for projects in horticultural education, conservation, and civic beautification.  The 88th annual Azalea Trail will take place in Spring 2026. This is a tradition not to be missed so be sure you have walking shoes, a hat and bring your family and friends for a weekend of beauty, fun and inspiration. It will be here before you know it!
