Tennis, Friendship, and Fitness

In the heart of River Ranch, two friends who’ve known each other since high school continue to bond over their shared love for tennis and fitness. Crystal Coroy Ste. Maire and Lacey Moncla have spent years playing the game they adore, both on the courts and in their everyday lives. Their journey from high school friends to tennis partners has been filled with both fun and hard work, making their story an inspiring one for neighbors and fellow athletes.

Tennis, Teamwork, and Friendly Competition
Crystall and Lacey both play tennis at City Club, with Lacey currently holding a 4.0 rating and Crystall playing at a 3.5 level. They’ve participated in local leagues, tennis tournaments, and even traveled to Florida for a tournament with fellow City Club players. Their love for the game has created a strong foundation of teamwork, discipline, and strategy—qualities they carry with them both on and off the court.

“Tennis is a fantastic sport that can be enjoyed at any age,” says Crystall. “It’s a great way to socialize, stay active, and improve fitness levels while having fun. Whether you’re playing casually or competitively, the health benefits are tremendous—great for cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and coordination.”

Their tennis adventures don’t stop at the courts. The duo also enjoys walking in River Ranch and working out at the gym, which has led them to develop a fantastic group of friends who share their passion for fitness. Their weekly walks, combined with their gym sessions, have become a vital part of their fitness routine—and their bond.

The Power of Friendship
“The bonds formed on the court can last a lifetime,” says Crystall. “It’s not just about the sport itself, but the community and connections we build along the way. Tennis has a beautiful way of bringing people together!”

One of their favorite moments comes from their shared history. “Lacey and I were friends in high school, and now we live on the same street in River Ranch,” Crystall shares. “We love staying active and catching up during our weekly walks—perfect for getting our steps in while enjoying the beautiful scenery!”

A Tip for Beginners: Just Join!
If you’re considering picking up a racket, both Lacey and Crystall recommend taking tennis lessons at City Club. They’ve found that even beginners can jump in and join a team, regardless of skill level.

“City Club offers beginner clinics, and even if you feel like you aren’t good enough, just join!” Crystall advises. “The more you play, the better you’ll get, and weekly lessons really help improve your game.”

And having a workout buddy, someone to keep you accountable, can make all the difference. “When you know someone else is counting on you to show up, it motivates you to stick to your routine,” says Crystall. “Plus, it makes the experience more enjoyable and less of a chore!”

Staying Active, Together
Crystall and Lacey are a testament to the power of friendship, teamwork, and staying active. From tennis to weightlifting and weekly walks, their journey showcases how physical activity can enrich not only your health but also your social life. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness or make new connections, following in their footsteps might be the perfect way to start.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your racket, join a clinic, and maybe you’ll even find a lifelong friend along the way!
