August Interiors Studio

Blending timeless design with a streamlined process to create homes that feel truly lived in.

When Kennedy Petitfils Williams describes her approach to design, she lights up with passion and purpose. “We create luxury interiors through a simple, streamlined process that makes achieving a beautiful home both effortless and as fast as it can be with custom options,” she explains. At August Interiors Studio, Kennedy has built a business around making professional design approachable—helping clients move past overwhelm and into homes that finally feel like “them.”

A Journey Home
Kennedy’s path to interior design wasn’t always clear. Born in Lafayette, her family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina when she was a baby, where she grew up surrounded by creativity and southern charm. She initially thought she’d go into fashion, but everything changed after she helped a family friend with a large design install. “I could see myself doing something similar,” she remembers. That spark led her to switch majors and transfer schools, ultimately studying interior architecture at UNC Greensboro.

After graduation, Kennedy and her husband moved to New Orleans, where she gained invaluable experience working for two established designers. Then, after the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided it was time to go out on her own. Projects quickly came through word of mouth, and by the time her family relocated to Lafayette in 2022 to be closer to loved ones, Kennedy knew it was time to create a permanent home base. “It was the best decision I made for my business,” she says. “I have loved working within this community the past year.”

A Simplified Approach to Luxury
What sets August Interiors Studio apart is the clarity and efficiency Kennedy brings to the design process. “We work quickly,” she says. “If we get a call for a meeting, we try to go that day if we can.” Her goal is to take the stress out of design for her clients. Instead of wading through endless options, Kennedy and her team curate a vision that captures the client’s personality and lifestyle. “It’s always a fun challenge to take a room that feels lifeless and give it personality,” she explains.

Most of the furnishings she specifies are custom, designed to stand the test of time. While quality pieces may take longer to arrive, Kennedy prides herself on pulling spaces together as quickly as possible without compromising design integrity. The result? Homes that are both beautiful and deeply functional.

A Timeless Style
When asked how she would describe her style, Kennedy points to the art of blending. “We love to layer antiques and old-world pieces with more updated furnishings and accessories,” she says. “By mixing the two, we design homes that feel both collected and current, telling each client’s story in a way that feels authentic and enduring.”

Advice for Homeowners
For Kennedy, the most important part of choosing a designer is connection. “Design is deeply personal,” she says. “If you trust who you’re working with, the process goes more smoothly.” She also reminds homeowners that good design is an investment. “Cheaper can always be done, but it will not last. You’ll always end up spending more replacing. Creating a home that stands the test of time is worth it—it’s where we gather with the people we love most.”

Rooted in Community
Kennedy and her husband previously lived on Annunciation Street in River Ranch before outgrowing their home, but her ties to the neighborhood remain strong. August Interiors Studio is now located in the Main Street Annex, keeping her connected to the community where she has so many childhood memories. “River Ranch has always been special to me—my grandparents lived here, and now I get to be part of it through my business,” she says.

Beyond design projects, Kennedy and her team stay actively involved in local events, collaborations, and partnerships with Lafayette businesses. She’s also quick to open her studio doors, creating a welcoming space for neighbors and clients alike.

Designing Homes, Building Stories
At its core, August Interiors Studio isn’t just about furnishings or finishes—it’s about creating homes that reflect the lives lived inside them. For Kennedy, the most rewarding part of her work is walking into a finished space and seeing her clients feel at home. “It should be functional and make you feel the sense of ‘home,’” she says. “That’s the most important part of what we do.”
