From the Desk of Layla Jean Trahan
She came from Folsom, found every tennis ball in Lafayette, and now rules the Trahan home.

Humans: Jayme, Lauren, Luca, and Aiden Trahan
Hi! I’m Layla Jean, a six-year-old golden doodle with a heart full of love and a nose trained like a truffle pig—but for tennis balls.
My story starts shortly after my humans moved to Lafayette. My dad (he’s the softie) insisted they get a dog, but my mom was a lifelong cat person. She didn’t think she needed a pup in her life… until she did some research and discovered the magic of golden doodles (aka: dogs with personalities as golden as their coats). That’s when they found me, a curly little pup in Folsom, Louisiana, just waiting to meet my forever family.
And oh, what a family it is.
Life in the Trahan house is anything but boring. I’m best friends with two busy little boys, a cat named Billy Jean, and a rotating cast of foster animals who come and go through our doors like some kind of heartwarming reality show. But I don’t mind the chaos. In fact, I thrive in it.
You see, I have a few superpowers.
First, I have an uncanny ability to sniff out a “puppy ball” (that’s what Mom calls tennis balls) anywhere in the house. Closet? Found it. Laundry basket? Child’s play. Under the couch? Please. I'm a professional. Second, I can make just about anyone smile. It’s kind of my thing. Whether it’s my goofy zoomies, my expressive doodle eyebrows, or my very serious attempts to climb directly into your lap for a cuddle—I’m known to brighten up a room.
My parents say I taught them a lot, like how to let go of spotless furniture and accept that love sometimes comes with muddy paws.. And now that I have human siblings, I’m even more useful! I help clean up their snack trails, stand guard during nap time, and demonstrate how to properly chase your tail when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
I share my home with Billy Jean, the one-eyed cat who thinks he’s in charge (he’s not). We both know how to roll out the red carpet for the foster pets that come stay with us. Some of them are shy or scared when they arrive, but we show them the ropes. Billy handles the napping tutorials—I focus on tail wags and keeping things fun.
Are we spoiled? You bet. Between spa days, homemade meals, and endless cuddles, we’re basically royalty. But we give it all back in loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love.
So that’s me—Layla Jean. Golden doodle, heart-melter, chaos coordinator, and proud member of the Trahan crew. Life’s a little messier with me around, sure—but it’s a whole lot sweeter too.
