Name: Ella Savoy
Grade: 2nd
School: ESA
What is the sport you participate in and how long have you participated in it?
The sport I've played the longest is tennis. I take lessons every week, and my whole family likes to play together on the weekends. I just started water skiing at False River last summer at it is my favorite, but I'm not as good as my grandmother (Mari McCarron)! I have also played softball (shortstop) and soccer (sweeper) for a year.
Where do you normally practice/play?
I play tennis at City Club and Oakbourne. I play soccer at the Youngsville Sports Complex and softball at Broadmoor Park. I love to ski at False River!
If you are on a team, what is the name?
My soccer team is called the Pink Ponies and my softball team is the Pink Panthers–it’s kind of confusing!
Have you traveled anywhere related to this activity?
Not yet, but I'm begging my parents to take me to New York to watch the US Open Tennis Tournament!
What events have you participated in?
I've played in a few tennis tournaments, leagues for soccer and softball, and boat dance parties to pump me up for water skiing!
Have you won any awards/honors?
Yes! I've won two tennis tournaments, and I got Lafayette Little League Player of the Game for softball this year.
What have you learned from these activities?
That I really love to win.
What do you like the most about your activities?
Winning and having my mom, dad, and little brother watch me play.
Do you have a favorite moment?
Getting up on water skis like my mom and grandma.
What is one tip you would give to someone looking to get into these activities?
Bring a cold water and wear a hat!
If you'd like to include anything else, please mention it here.
Tell my parents to bring me to the US Open please!
