Courts Club Serves Up Another Great Sunday

In true Southern California fashion, the weather came through just in time for the Rolling Hills Courts Club’s latest gathering. After a gray, misty Saturday, the clouds parted Sunday morning, giving members perfect conditions to get out on the courts.

The pickleball side was packed—four courts running at full tilt with competitive play and plenty of laughter. Meanwhile, tennis coach Everard Groenwald led eight players through a high-energy workout that had everyone breaking a sweat.

Pickleball has been gaining ground steadily at the club, and now players outnumber tennis enthusiasts by more than two to one. Many members enjoy bouncing between the two sports, keeping the courts buzzing all morning long.

About 25 members turned out, which made for just the right mix of friendly competition and easy camaraderie. Off the courts, the potluck breakfast was every bit as good as the action on them.

From Tony Mian’s bagels and coffee, to Shari Cimmarusti’s colorful fruit plate, Lola Fantappie’s banana bread, and Bill and Kim Flohr’s box of irresistible donuts—nobody went hungry. Ravi Shan brought the beer, and Dustin and Melissa McNabb kept spirits high with fresh mimosas.

A special thanks also went to Lynee’Des Lierres for keeping everyone refreshed with drinks, coolers, and ice.
Standout performances didn’t go unnoticed either. The “most improved” nod went to Ralph Cimmarusti, who impressed with sharp cross-court shots and a series of strong serves.

All told, it was another memorable day for the Courts Club community—good games, good food, and good friends. Members can look forward to the next event on October 26. For updates and details, visit www.rhcourts.com.
