50 Eastfield Drive
There is no place like home. For Rolling Hills resident Jan Ferris, her ranch-style home is everything she has wanted. It is a place where she and her husband have made memories to cherish with their four children.
What’s her favorite room? “All the rooms have happy memories for me, but my family would probably choose the family room where we played pool and darts and gathered by the fireplace.”
This house boasts 10 rooms on the main floor with an exercise room, a media room, and a wine room on the lower level. A guest house makes it perfect for company to spend the night.
A Home Full of Heart
The approximately 6,000-square-foot home boasts a casual, indoor-outdoor style that seamlessly blends comfort with elegance. “The rooms all open to the surrounding patios and gardens with different views,” says Jan. With exposed beams, sliding doors, and a thoughtfully designed layout, the home radiates warmth and charm.
The property includes gardens, fruit trees, a pool, a bocce court, and breathtaking harbor, ocean, and canyon views. It’s a perfect backdrop for both quiet reflection and lively gatherings.
“We rebuilt the house 25 years ago, after living in it for 25 years,” Jan shares. During construction, the family lived nearby and visited daily to track progress. The rebuild was designed to preserve the essence of their home while adding modern touches.
Countless Celebrations
The home has been the setting for countless celebrations over the years, from themed parties like a ‘50s night and a disco dance to a mystery party and even a pig roast. The bocce court has seen its fair share of friendly competition, while the vegetable garden beds—one of her husband’s favorite projects (also known as Mr. Fix It) —have brought fresh produce and fond memories to the table.
One unforgettable moment came during the excavation for the pool, when Jan’s oldest son uncovered part of a 12-million-year-old whale skull. This remarkable find was donated to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, creating a lasting connection between their home and history.
A Community
“I have been here over 50 years and still enjoy the beauty, the quiet and the trails,” says Jan. “Even if you don't ride horses or play tennis or pickleball, the community clubs offer the opportunity to socialize with other residents.”
For Jan Ferris, her spacious home will always be a place where love and memories thrive, surrounded by the beauty of Rolling Hills. What more could she ask for?
