Horsemanship merit badge for Troop 191 Boy Scouts
Happy start of summer everyone! The trails are shaped up for some awesome horse riding in our community! We hope to see you all out there enjoying the beautiful scenery and weather.
The Caballeros have been busy lately. Many members, led by Greg Willis, volunteered to help 32 boy scouts from Troop 191 earn their horsemanship merit badge. The boy scouts came from all over the South Bay and gathered at The Empty Saddle Club to rotate through five stations: grooming, horse handling, health and well-being, saddling and bridling, and finally, mounting and walking. We are so pleased that these scouts were able to learn about horsemanship and we can continue to expose more people to the love of horses!
The Hillfillys had a great ride last month to Sue Breiholz's barn where they had a good mingle and enjoyed a delicious lunch. The Hillfillys is a group made up of equestrian women who are residents of Rolling Hills. They love to get together to trail ride with their neighbors and fellow horse women. The trail rides are made complete by a lunch hosted by one of the members to further enjoy one another's company and great conversation.
Please check the Caballeros website for more information and to join the Hillfillys: www.CaballerosofRollingHills.org. This website is a great resource to learn more about this horse riders group, as well as to stay up to date with some of the great community events that we coordinate and sponsor for our community.
Don't forget to save the date for the Hicks BBQ on Saturday, August 24th. Once again, it will be held at The Empty Saddle Club. There will be plenty of delicious food, beverages, music and dancing. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
