A recurring column by and for Rolling Hills neighbors

MOVIES:
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE was released in late May only in movie theatres. That is the Tom Cruise way...that is his intention when he makes a movie. To make his point he appears on screen before the movie begins and introduces himself and speaks directly to the audience to remind them that he makes movies exclusively for the big screen experience.
And once again he delivers. Big time! It may take a bit for the story line to click in but the action and stunts do not disappoint. Tom prides himself with doing his own stunts that are meticulously planned and practiced. Tom's character Ethan Hunt hanging off the wing of a small plane is indeed him! Spoiler according to Newsweek is that "while some cast members suggest the possibility of future installments, the film is being marketed as the last movie in the franchise. The movie's title and plot, which include flashbacks to key moments and characters, further reinforce this idea".
So if you haven't seen the movie yet try to make time to catch it while it's still on the big screen ... in IMAX, Dolby or standard.
NONNAS on Netflix, has an all star cast of actors that have been nominated for the most prestigious awards throughout their long illustrious careers. Whether you are a foodie or not, it’s a fun watch.
The four Nonna's are Lorraine Bracco (Goodfellas, Sopranos and personally a longtime friend and why I was excited to see it!), Brenda Vacarro (Midnight Cowboy, extensive work on Broadway and tv), Talia Shire (The Godfather and Rocky series) and Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking, Bull Durham, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thelma and Louise.)
The movie also stars Vince Vaughn (Rudy, Swingers and The Break Up) and Linda Cardellini (Green Book, Mad Men tv series).
"The film Nonna's is based on the life of Joe Scaravella (played by Vince Vaughn), the owner of a Staten Island (New York City) restaurant Enoteca Maria, who risks everything to honor his recently deceased, beloved mother by opening an Italian restaurant with grandmothers ("Nonna's") preparing the meals. The core theme is all about family, tradition, and holding the things that truly matter close to you." The restaurant that the movie Nonna is based on is still open for business if you get to NYC.
MUSIC:
Keith Urban's latest album HIGH is yet another representation of why he is a long time beloved superstar with a career history of multiple music related awards and member of the Grand Ole Oprey. He has gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums.
He may be considered a "country" artist but these days country music is what rock n roll used to be! He is high (!) on my list of favorite music artists for his voice, song writing, musicianship as an outstanding guitarist and an incredible performer. He may play large music venues but you feel like you are in an intimate club setting. Keith will be bringing his "High and Alive World Tour" to the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA July 26.mMusic Corporation of AmericaKEITH URBANB in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Keith Urban is one of country music’s biggest superstars and most talented musicians. Keith released his debut self-titled album in 1999 on the label he remains on today, Capitol Records Nashville, and has since continued to entertain fans globally. Kand Alive world tour to the Intuit Dine.
In the Stroll Rolling Hills issue my article from December 2024 titled "Long Live Rock n Roll", I wrote about seeing Billy Joel perform at the Intuit Dome. It's a fabulous newcomer to L.A. venues.
