Snow Day in Rolling Hills!
On December 3rd, The Women’s Community Club of Rolling Hills, in conjunction with the Rolling Hills Community Association, hosted Snow Day, an event that seemed to transport guests straight to the North Pole. Festive activities filled the event, delighting people of all ages, and reminding us of the true joy in the holiday spirit.
We had a visit from Santa himself, which helped set the tone with his cute holiday house. The excitement in the air was palpable, as over 200 children waited in wonder to sit on his lap and talk with Santa. With the assistance of Mrs. Claus and the elves, he took gift requests and posed for photos with the children. Can you imagine the happiness?
The local firefighters from Station 56 added to the excitement by showing kids all the ins-and- outs of their big red fire truck, letting them climb into the front seat and pretend to drive off. Many guests donated toys to the Southern California Firefighters Spark of Love toy drive, which for over 30 years has collected toys and sports equipment for children and teens in need in Los Angeles and other So Cal counties.
Another real delight came from the snow on the ground, which arrived especially for this event, and is quite unusual in a community where temperatures typically average 70 degrees! Artie and crew worked hard to build a snow hill, which lasted all afternoon, where the kids raced up the hill and laughed and screamed with joy as they zipped down the two slopes in snow saucers.
The snow was a huge hit as it allowed for a silly afternoon filled with snowball fights, snow angels, and of course, snowmen. It was all in good winter fun, even the snowball fights! The Women’s Club clearly brought a lot of joy to all who attended, but especially to one individual. A lucky mother of 6, Angela, won the prize from the 50/50 raffle. The Women’s Club will use the funds raised from the raffle to update and refurbish the Santa house for next year!
The Women’s Club loves organizing this fantastic event for the community, bringing together neighbors to spread joy and cheer. Snow day is made possible by the generous support of the RHCA and our many volunteers who donate long hours, delicious home-baked goods and tireless energy to bring this event to life. Please enjoy the great photos taken by our resident photographer Peter Parsa – they capture the day beautifully, showcasing all the smiles and laughter.
But it wasn’t just Santa Claus and the decorations and volunteers that made this event special. It was the sense of togetherness that filled the day. Families mingled with their neighbors, old friends caught up with each other, and new connections formed both young and old. As the day drew to a close, it was clear that this holiday event had brought the community closer together. Laughter filled the air as children played games, families shared stories, and memories were made. The Women’s Club can be proud of its accomplishment in fostering a sense of unity and joy within the community.
