Cinco de Mayo Tennis and Pickleball extravaganza brings Rolling Hills community together!

On Sunday, May 4, the Rolling Hills courts club celebrated Cinco de Mayo in spirited style with a lively tennis and pickleball extravaganza. The event, thoughtfully organized by Dustin and the dedicated courts club board members, brought together 50 residents of the Rolling Hills community for a day of fun, fitness and connection on the courts.
The morning began with fresh coffee and delicious bagels provided by Tony. As participants arrived, there was a palpable buzz in the air. Players stretched, warmed up, and caught up with friends before diving into the days of events. Pickleball players kicked things off with a round robin formatted to mix up partners each round, giving everyone a chance to meet new people and enjoy competitive yet friendly play. All levels played together, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.
For those new to the sport, Coach Mario provided helpful instruction and encouragement, giving beginners a solid foundation while keeping the vibe light and supportive. To add to the fun, Melissa designed creative scorecards for the round robin which players used to track their matches. After a flurry of fast paced games and lots of laughter, the scores were tallied. Congratulations to round robin standouts—Jessica, Ravi and Kim, who each walked away as the top 3 winners… and with gift cards!
Meanwhile, tennis players weren’t left out. Everard led a high energy group workout that challenged participants while keeping things fun and fast paced. The courts echoed with the sounds of friendly competition and plenty of cheering from the sidelines.
As a day wore on players were having so much fun that no one wanted to stop. Only the enticing aroma from the taco truck was enough to tempt people off the courts for a well-earned lunch. Tacos were devoured under sunny skies, accompanied by festive margaritas and plenty of laughter.
The success of the event was truly a community effort. Lynne brought soft drinks coolers and served as the day’s official photographer. Rumel contributed ice and additional coolers to keep drinks chilled. Shari and Diana brought the party vibes with festive table decorations and of course margaritas! Heather made sure the entire Rolling Hills neighborhood knew about the event, thanks to her creative signs.
The Cinco de Mayo celebration showcased exactly what makes the Rolling Hills Court club so special—a vibrant welcoming community brought together by a shared love of play and connection.
Save the date!
The courts club next event is coming up on Sunday, August 17—a breakfast potluck where members can catch up, share their favorite food and continue building the strong community spirit that makes Rolling Hills shine. We can’t wait to see you there!
