Eric Smith from MassageSmith Is Committed to the Community

Talented Professional Helps People Feel Their Very Best!

Do you suffer from aches and pains? Knots in your muscles? Or perhaps you are trying to combat stress and anxiety. MassageSmith, founded by Eric Smith, is dedicated to helping people feel their best through expert massage therapy and wellness services.

A Leap of Faith

Eric’s path to success took a leap of faith. Originally from Memphis, TN, he had never been to California before his wife was recruited by Cedars-Sinai Hospital. In March 2014, they made the bold decision to move to Torrance, leaving behind their home, possessions, and familiarity.
“At almost 50 yrs old, I left my job, sold our house and most of our possessions and moved 1800 miles across the country to start over. We moved to Torrance, our first home in California. This was a little scary. I didn’t know the area or anyone here,” he says.

Despite his background in commercial service management and sales, he struggled to find his niche. “My wife told me no matter what I did, just make sure it’s something you loved.”
Eric was offered a job in outside sales for an interior door business, but he struggled to find his niche. “I felt lost,” he admits. “My smart, supportive wife had an idea. She pointed out I was always good at working with my hands and we owned a massage table for several years, so I had the basic skills.”

Eric was also inspired by his mother’s influence growing up. “I observed her servant’s heart approach to life,” he smiles. “That’s where my gift of giving came from. Between my wife and mother, I had a few clues to pay attention to as I navigated this new chapter. “
Helping others heal became his lifework. After investing in his education, he launched MassageSmith, and ten years later, he couldn’t be more grateful for the journey that led him here.

Committed to the Community

Beyond offering expert massage therapy, Eric is deeply involved in the community. He actively participates in the Torrance Chamber of Commerce, serving as co-chair of the Ambassador Committee and he was accepted into Leadership Torrance. In recognition of his dedication, he was named Ambassador of the Year last year.

Eric’s involvement doesn’t stop there. As an ambassador for the South Bay Wellness Society, he plays a vital role in promoting wellness in the region. Recently, he helped organize the first-ever South Bay Wellness Expo, a well-attended event featuring 40 vendors at the South Bay Galleria.

Eric’s passion for giving back is evident through his volunteer work. He has provided chair massages at VIP areas for the South Bay Beer & Wine Festival, which was an event hosted by the South Bay Sunrise and Palos Verdes Rotary Clubs. In addition, he has provided chair massages at the Toast on the Coast, which is sponsored by the Peninsula Education Foundation. Not to mention providing massages at events hosted by the Sunrise Rotary Club and TV Rotary Club. His contributions help make these events more enjoyable while supporting local causes.
