Long Beach Mounted Police Color Guard

color guards at EHP Barn for horse show

On Sunday, Sept. 10, the LBMP Color Guard Performance at the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show. It started out raining and then the overcast skies helped us not to bake in the sun. The horses stayed clean and looked beautiful. This year’s horse show riders were: Laurine McCaw on Peppy, Kathy Stowe on Chexx, Helen Frykman on Penny, and our newest LBMP Applicant, Lori Wheeler, as a guest rider who did a fantastic job aboard Gunner.

Helen’s Husband Karl was also there. He was great at being our ground crew helper and flag transporter. All of us appreciated his valuable help very much. It was a great pleasure, to be riding in the show ring, carrying our Country’s Flag, to the tune of “I’m Proud To Be An American” followed by Our “National Anthem.”

For 87 years (since 1935), the Long Beach Mounted Police has been inspiring millions of people by riding in hundreds of parades, bringing a visual picture of joy, optimism, and patriotism to the people in attendance. We do about 7 parades a year and also have some fun trail rides together. If you already have Drill Team experience, that’s perfect for parade lineups and maneuvers. We are a 501c3 group and write-offs of dues and some of your horse expenses are a real plus. If you are interested in joining this fabulous silver-clad troop, print and fill out an application at the Long Beach Mounted Police Website longbeachmountedpolice.com or contact Helen Frykman or Kathy Stowe. If you are already a Palomino owner, well, you’re halfway in right there! LBMP President Laurine McCaw and Vice President Kathy Stowe, invite you to come join us for the ride of a lifetime!

Happy Trails
