The Cooleys
Hi neighbors! We’re David and Jessica Cooley, and we’re so grateful to call Rolling Hills home. We moved here in 2025 with our two kids, Ava (14) and Jonathan (12), and our two rescued pups Bentley and Cocoa. We’re an active, family-oriented crew who loves spending time together — whether we’re working on a project, hosting friends, or just enjoying a slow evening outdoors. We have felt so welcomed into this beautiful community.
Both of us have deep roots in the South Bay. Jessica was born and raised here, and David has lived in the area for more than 20 years. He first came to the South Bay in 2004 to attend Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Management. Jessica studied Criminal Justice at Cal State Long Beach, originally with dreams of becoming a detective or working in forensics. We met through the young adults group at Calvary Chapel South Bay (now Calvary Life Church), and instantly connected over shared values — faith, family, and a heart for serving others.
We own Cooley Brothers Painting, a company we built nearly 16 years ago. David is a licensed painting contractor who has personally helped transform thousands of homes across the South Bay. Beyond craftsmanship, he’s known for something rare in the trades: genuine care for people. He leads with integrity, builds strong relationships with clients and crew members, and is deeply committed to restoring professionalism and trust in the industry. Jessica brings leadership experience through business, team development, and nonprofit board roles, and now supports the company behind the scenes while also investing in family and community life. To us, our business isn’t just about painting homes — it’s about building trust, creating beauty in the neighborhoods we love, and treating people with honesty and care.
Ava and Jonathan are both active, creative, and deeply compassionate. Ava is a Freshman at Peninsula and a competitive soccer player who pours her heart into both club and high school soccer. She’s joyful, social, loves helping with younger kids at church — and dreams of becoming a veterinarian one day. Jonathan is in 6th grade at Miraleste and is happiest outdoors — fishing, biking, hiking, or working on projects with David. He plays flag football and basketball and is learning guitar at church with hopes of joining the youth worship team soon. He’s also saving up for one big dream: to buy his own fishing boat.
Our kids have always had a love for animals and dreamed of living somewhere with land — a place where they could eventually care for horses, chickens, maybe even a few goats. So when God opened the door for us to live in Rolling Hills, it felt like the perfect blend of peace, safety, nature, and community. We love that our kids can ride bikes freely, explore nature, and grow up in a setting that feels peaceful, safe, and grounded. One day, we hope to own horses and build a small farm-style life here — something we never imagined possible anywhere else in the South Bay.
Our faith plays a huge role in our family life, and one of the ways we live that out is through serving others — both individually and as a family. Whether locally or abroad, mission work has become a meaningful part of our lives. These experiences allow us to connect with people from all walks of life while sharing the Gospel, hope, and practical help. Some of our favorite memories have come from serving side by side, bringing faith and love into communities near and far. Seeing Ava and Jonathan serve others, not just watch us serve, has been one of the greatest blessings of parenthood.
One of our first experiences here was attending the Rolling Hills community Easter Egg Hunt, which was such a warm welcome. We also enjoyed the Neighbors Night Out Block Party at City Hall and look forward to being part of more local events, meeting more families, and contributing however we can.
Our favorite part of living in Rolling Hills is the peace and natural beauty that surrounds us — open skies, rolling hillsides, and a sense of life lived at a more meaningful pace. This move has given us room to breathe, room to grow, and room to serve.
If you see us out walking the dogs, kicking a soccer ball, or loading fishing rods into the truck — please say hello. We’d love to meet you.
