Hello Neighbors! My name is Michelle Rogers and I am a lifelong resident of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I have had the pleasure of living in Rolling Hills Estates, Palos Verdes Estates, and since 2022, in the special and unique city of Rolling Hills.

Not only did I have the privilege of being raised in the Peninsula, I have been able to raise my family here as well. I have 3 grown sons and a teenage step-daughter. I graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor’s in business.

What's the history and mission of your business? What inspired you to start your business?
I have always had a passion for real estate and finance. At the age of 16, I worked at Bank of America, which is where I discovered my passion for banking and financing. When I learned there was a profession that allowed me to combine my love for real estate and passion for finance, it was a clear choice to begin my business in 2002. I have been a mortgage lender in the south bay my entire career and have been in my current office location in the Malaga Cove Plaza for the last 15 years. I am proud to be the Branch Manager of the Palos Verdes CrossCountry Mortgage Branch. CrossCountry Mortgage was just named the #1 Retail Lender in the nation. My mission is to help as many hopeful homeowners to achieve their homebuying dreams, as I genuinely believe that homeownership is one of our strongest wealth building tools. In addition to helping homebuyers, my mission is also to help homeowners to use the hard earned equity in their home to provide financial solutions.

What types of services does your business offer?
I offer a wide range of loan programs, from FHA and VA to conventional and jumbo. When you come to me for your mortgage, I begin by listening. I want to understand your goals and priorities so I can offer a home loan that’s right for you. You may be a first-time homebuyer or a long-time homeowner. You may be buying an investment property or looking for a renovation loan. You are an individual and my recommendations will respect your unique circumstances.

How does your business connect with and contribute to the local community?
I believe my work benefits my community in a number of ways. It allows new families to be able to buy a home in this beautiful community which keeps our neighborhood growing and vibrant. Also, through our ability to allow people to tap into their equity, homeowners are able to properly maintain their homes and improve upon them, which contributes to the overall beautification of our community. Through our reverse mortgage programs, we are able to help some of our senior homeowners remain in their homes, and enjoy a more fulfilling and comfortable retirement lifestyle.

Every business faces challenges. Can you share insights into any challenges your business has overcome and the growth that resulted?
The mortgage banking industry is constantly changing and facing challenges. The most recent challenge we have faced has been the rise in interest rates due to inflation along with the reduced inventory since 2019. Our inventory of homes for sale is about 40% less than it was prior to the pandemic, and it continues to remain low. Many believe this is in large part due to many homeowners having captured very low interest rates in 2020 -2022 and are now reluctant to sell because they do not want to lose their very low mortgage rate. The growth that arises when business is challenged is finding new solutions to help our clients. Two great programs that arose over the past two years is our 2-1 temporary rate buydown program which makes home buying more affordable and overcomes today’s higher interest rates. The second program is called Fast Track which allows me to give my home buyers a fully underwritten pre-approval. This allows them to compete more aggressively for the home they want to purchase and compete with all cash buyers.

What's your vision for the future of your business? Please share any upcoming projects, milestones, or events you're excited about.
My vision for the future of my business is to continue to be leaders in creating new programs that bring the best solutions to my clients. We are proud to have just released our Line of Duty program that helps to pay off all or part of a first responders’ mortgage should they fall in the line of duty. My other goal is to continue to integrate technology to make the home loan process as simple as possible for my clients, while still giving them a high touch experience that makes them feel guided and confident throughout the loan process.

Given your professional expertise and experiences, what advice do you have for our residents, if any?
My advice to our residents is to remember that your home mortgage is a great financial vehicle that can be a part of many financial solutions. Whether you need to consolidate debt, tap into your equity for cash flow reasons, or perhaps convert into a reverse mortgage to remain in your beautiful home, I am only a phone call away. I am always available to help you evaluate if a new home mortgage may benefit you and your unique circumstances.
