Say Hello to the Paullin Family!

Finding Community, Connection and Adventure in Rolling Hills

Hi, Rolling Hills! We are the Paullin’s—Chapin, Whitney, and our two daughters, Adaline (6) and Emmaline (4). When we moved here, we weren’t just looking for a house; we wanted a community, and from the very start, Rolling Hills felt like home.

Our youngest daughter Emmaline was born just after we moved to Rolling Hills. She’s grown up exploring the nature of RH and enjoys helping care for our backyard chickens. Emma joined St. John Fisher School this year while her big sister Adaline attends Silver Spur Elementary. Adaline is creative, her passion is art but she’s fearless at rock climbing, snorkeling, and soccer. Every spring you will find our daughters filling their baskets with wild blackberries in our community.

Rolling Hills = Home Sweet Home

We moved to Rolling Hills in 2019, but it was really a homecoming for our family. Chapin’s roots go back generations—his grandparents, Harold and Beulah Bowen, moved to Portuguese Bend in the 1940s, inspired by their friend Frank Vanderlip, who was helping shape the area at the time. We love knowing our girls are growing up in a place so rich with family history.

I grew up in Murray, Utah, where my family’s dedication to medicine influenced me to become a doctor. Now, being part of this amazing community and carrying on that commitment to care is incredibly rewarding. Rolling Hills is the perfect blend of history, nature, and neighbors
who look out for one another.

If you’ve ever seen a big, black-and-white dog exploring Rolling Hills, that’s Milo, our Large Munsterlander. He’s a bird-hunting breed from Germany, and his adventurous side means he’s always curious to roam around. Friendly as can be, he might even come up to say hello if he somehow escapes our property.

Pursuing Our Passions

A generational business - Chapin and his brother Christian are Co-President’s of Capstan, a powder metal manufacturing company founded by their grandfather Don Paullin. The company was founded in 1956 and continued to grow under Mark Paullin, Chapin’s father, reaching past 600 employees and multiple divisions in the USA and Mexico. Today, Chapin Paullin and Christian Paullin lead the family-owned business, a rarity, with only 30 powder metal companies in the USA still in existence, making automotive, agriculture, and aerospace parts for high-volume assemblies. Just one program for Ford Motors means they make 5 million pieces
of the same part required for every vehicle. Currently, they have over 500 different programs in production for companies around the world.

As for me, I’m a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in functional, homeopathic and naturopathic medicine. After spending several years as a pediatrician with Kaiser Permanente, I’ve recently opened an integrative concierge pediatric practice in Redondo Beach’s Riviera Village called Dr. Whitney (drwhitney.com) where I’m blending traditional medicine with holistic options to support children’s health. I am truly grateful to have created a career where work is my passion. It’s been a rewarding shift, especially knowing I’m able to provide families with choices that resonate with them personally. When I’m not helping others, I spend my time learning, reading, and researching mostly medicine, practicing self-care or spending time with family and friends.

Holiday Happiness

The holidays are extra special for us. Every December we pack up for a snowy trip to Mammoth, where the girls are learning to ski. It’s one of our favorite traditions and the perfect way to celebrate together.

Building Memories in Rolling Hills

We feel so lucky to live in Rolling Hills where neighbors become friends and families can get back to nature. The natural beauty of Rolling Hills brings us immense joy. We love taking family walks on the horse trails, picking wild blackberries and enjoying the most beautiful views of sunrise and sunset. If you’re ever nearby, we’d love for you to stop by and say hello or come get some fresh eggs. We look forward to meeting more of you!
