Western Museum of Flight Event

What an awesome night of flight! Attending the recent social event at the Western Museum of Flight, located at Torrance Airport, was such an enjoyable evening with friends and neighbors. Arriving to the sounds of the saxophone played by DJ Ramaan Ebrahimi (who is only 14 years old!) was the beginning of what made this evening special. Having lived in the South Bay my whole life, of course I have been to Torrance Airport and this charming historical museum - mainly because I have two boys who at one point each loved airplanes. I was surprised to learn that the almost eighty guests in attendance had not known it was there!
This particular night was a learning experience for many of the Rolling Hills neighbors who all sat together and watched a fascinating photo slideshow in the presence of aerospace artifacts, as the Director Cindy Macha shared all of what this unique location has to offer. She narrated the presentation showcasing many pioneers in aviation history who made amazing contributions to the aircraft industry – many in chapters of their youth. Her passion for the history and development of aerospace has brought an amazing energy to this little museum which has programs for kids, speaker events, volunteer opportunities and more to offer to visitors.
Together, we enjoyed a delicious spread from the catering company, Bites and Bashes (also Rolling Hills residents), who artistically arranged beautiful displays of homemade hummus, delicious pasta, marinated chicken, some popular desserts – all on palm leaf disposable dishes that complimented the casual vibe in this local air museum’s garage-like setting. Each guest was given a raffle ticket and there were many happy winners who left with prizes that included items such as a charcuterie entertaining set, fall succulent arrangement, a complimentary photo shoot, specialty bottles of wine, a gift certificate to Kelly’s Corner, and more!
