Love, Family, and Home in Round Hill
For Danielle and John Cranston, community and connection have made the neighborhood feel like family for more than two decades.
For Danielle and John Cranston, Round Hill isn’t just where they live—it’s where life has unfolded for more than two decades. After 22 years in the community, the Cranstons have built a life centered on family, friendship, and the vibrant lifestyle the neighborhood offers.
The couple chose the area because of the incredible amenities and atmosphere surrounding Round Hill Country Club. From golf and tennis to pickleball, bocce, a fitness center, and outstanding dining, the club provides what Danielle describes as a true “resort-style” way of living. But beyond the activities and beautiful setting, it’s the people who have made the biggest impact.
“When we first moved up North, we didn’t know anyone,” Danielle recalls. “The people here were so welcoming, and over the years we’ve formed a wonderful group of friends who truly feel like family.”
Both Danielle and John are California natives with roots in Southern and Central California. John was born in San Marino, while Danielle was born in Salinas and raised in Gilroy—famously known as the “Garlic Capital of the World.” Their paths eventually crossed through a blind date arranged by their best friends after college. That introduction sparked a relationship that has now lasted more than three decades. The couple married in beautiful Carmel in 1993 and celebrated with a honeymoon in Tahiti. This year marks an incredible 33 years of marriage.
Education and career have also been shared chapters in their story. Both attended UCLA before launching careers in finance with Dean Witter Reynolds as financial advisors and stockbrokers—Danielle in the Beverly Hills office and John in downtown Los Angeles. Today, the couple works together again, this time as real estate agents with Compass. Helping clients find their dream home—or transition to the next chapter of their lives—is something they find deeply rewarding.
“We work seven days a week,” Danielle says, “but we don’t really consider it work because we truly love what we do.”
Family remains at the heart of everything for the Cranstons. They are proud parents to three children who are pursuing exciting paths of their own. Chris, 29, is a filmmaker in Los Angeles. Juliana, 24, lives in San Francisco and works for Pottery Barn’s corporate team. Their youngest daughter, Maria, 19, is currently a student at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
Of course, no family story would be complete without their four-legged companions. The household includes Lulu, a 13-year-old Maltipoo who has been part of the family for years, and Ollie, an energetic new rescue puppy.
With their children now spread across different cities, the Cranstons cherish opportunities to reunite—especially while traveling. Exploring the world together has become one of their favorite family traditions. Italy, Greece, and Mexico top the list of memorable destinations, and their next adventure will take them to London, where Maria will be studying abroad.
When they’re not working or traveling, Danielle and John enjoy staying active in the community. They are regulars at Round Hill Country Club, where they love playing tennis and pickleball with friends. It’s a perfect combination of exercise, socializing, and enjoying the lifestyle that first drew them to the neighborhood. Danielle has also recently picked up a new hobby—learning to play Mahjong.
After more than two decades in the area, the Cranstons say the sense of community continues to be what makes the neighborhood so special. For them, Round Hill isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place where friendships flourish, families grow, and memories are made.
