Designing Spaces with Purpose and Soul

Barbara Park of Park Place Design Transforms Vision into Meaningful Living

For Barbara Park, owner of Park Place Design, interior design is far more than selecting finishes or furnishings—it’s about helping people envision their perfect space and turning it into something truly unique and special. With over 20 years of experience in interior design and architectural interiors, Barbara approaches every project as an opportunity to enhance not only a space, but the way people live within it.

Founded in August 2005, Park Place Design has built a strong reputation throughout the East Bay for thoughtful, creative, and highly personalized design solutions. Barbara holds a B.A. in Interior Design, is a Certified Interior Designer in the State of California (CIDC), and is an Associate Member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA). Her professional background reflects both formal training and a deep appreciation for design, architecture, and art history—passions that continue to inspire her work today.

A Creative Life, Inside and Out
Creativity runs deep in Barbara’s life. She describes her family as very creative, musical, and gifted in both the arts and business. Growing up in the Bay Area, and having lived in San Francisco and the East Bay, she developed a love for culture, animals, and creative expression. Outside of work, Barbara enjoys theater, music venues, piano, tennis, golf, and dance.

She is also a devoted mother of three children—two sons and a daughter—and a proud dog owner to two Great Pyrenees and a Maremma Sheepdog. In addition to her design business, Barbara has successfully developed two Airbnb properties in Bodega Bay and Nevada City, blending her design expertise with entrepreneurial vision.

A Holistic Approach to Design
Park Place Design offers a wide range of services, including full interior design services, furnishings (both ready-made and custom), residential and light commercial remodels, new construction design and permit plans, Airbnb home design services, and custom window treatments, including Hunter Douglas shades. Each project is approached holistically, with Barbara viewing spaces as living environments that should be both functional and inspiring.

What sets her apart is her philosophy: she looks at projects as an opportunity to heal spaces and improve the environment we live in. Her success, she says, comes from a combination of experience, strong client-designer communication, attention to detail, creativity, confident decision-making, an ability to work across diverse styles, and excellent trade relationships.

Giving Back and Staying Connected
Barbara and Park Place Design remain actively involved in community affairs and local projects, reinforcing the belief that good design has the power to positively impact neighborhoods as well as individual homes.

Defining Success
When asked to define success, Barbara’s answer is simple and heartfelt:
“Enjoy what you do and love what you do.”
It’s a philosophy that clearly guides her work and her life. Her favorite quote—“The truth will set you free”—reflects her commitment to honesty, clarity, and trust throughout the design process.

For potential clients, Barbara offers one final piece of advice: trust the design process. With Park Place Design, that process is rooted in collaboration, creativity, and a genuine desire to bring meaningful spaces to life.
