Miami Beach

We took a quick trip to Miami at the end of March. It was Music festival week and so many parties all over Miami from resort areas to the beaches were happening with famous DJs from all over. The city is usually quite a party destination, especially on Ocean Drive, but with music festival week the whole city was buzzing with nonstop partying and dancing with Spring break Gen Z’ers. Miami has great music and restaurants with many other choices for the more mature crowds. We stayed at the Ritz on South Beach. It is central to the beach and lots of restaurants, but you will need to Uber to Ocean Drive and Little Havana. This is a nice property but dated and needs refurbishment. We went to Ocean Drive for dinner- what a fabulous street to walk on- open air cafes- lots of salsa music. The police presence is notable- feel free to walk around at any time. You feel comfortable and safe. We had a bottomless drink at La Osteria- great margaritas. The seafood tacos are yummy. We had a nightcap at the hotel bar after returning from Ocean Dr. The next morning, we decided to head over to Little Havana for the famous Cuban sandwich at Sanguich de Miami- It was packed with customers, limited seating and does a thriving take out business. The Cuban sandwiches were yummy as were the sweet potato fries. We walked around after lunch and went into a cigar factory where you could learn how to roll your own cigar. My husband loves an occasional cigar, and it was nice to see how it’s done. Miami has a wonderful vibe and is worth a visit but especially in March and Aprill when the weather is a perfect, balmy 70 degrees.
