Meet the Ackman Family
26 Years in Ruby Hill—and Still Loving Every Second!

"When you drive into the neighborhood, it’s absolutely stunning—it brings a smile to our faces every time."
It’s not just a house. It’s not even just a neighborhood. For the Ackman family, Ruby Hill is home—a place filled with laughter, tradition, tight-knit ties, and decades of unforgettable memories.
Chas and Lisa Ackman planted their roots in Ruby Hill 26 years ago, moving from Cary, Illinois, a suburb just outside of Chicago. Back then, the neighborhood was brand new, a blank canvas brimming with possibility. “We figured it’d be easier to meet people and make friends if everyone was moving in at the same time,” they recall. Spoiler alert: they were right.
Fast-forward to today, and the Ackmans aren’t just longtime residents—they’re practically part of the Ruby Hill blueprint. If there’s a club event, a golf game, or a neighborhood tradition happening, chances are you’ll find an Ackman (or three) right in the mix.
Scenic Views, Strong Ties
The view alone still stops them in their tracks. “It’s beautiful every time,” Lisa says. “You drive in and it’s just…wow.” But it’s more than curb appeal that’s kept them here—Ruby Hill has become a way of life. From community center events like Easter brunch to club nights like Bach 22, the Ackmans have embraced every opportunity to connect, celebrate, and say yes to one more round at the clubhouse.
The golf course? That’s Chas’s turf. He’s a regular in weekly games and plays in most tournaments. Lisa and Kelsey keep things moving on the Ruby Hill walking loop, pushing strollers and catching up with friends. And if you hear the cheerful clack of bocce balls, odds are Chas and Lisa—founding members of the league—are in the middle of a match.
The Ackman Lineup
Raising four kids under five might sound like chaos, but for the Ackmans, it was the beginning of what they affectionately call The Pod. Today, those kids are grown—but still close.
Chas Jr. works in technology sales. Jacob, after several years in commercial real estate, recently made the leap to residential and joined the Venema Homes Team. With deep roots in the area, he brings a hyper-local perspective and a genuine passion for helping people buy and sell in the neighborhood he knows better than most. (This is the guy you want showing your house.) Zachary is a sharp accountant at SavvyMoney, a fintech company founded by fellow Ruby Hill residents. And Kelsey is now married to Fritz Huber, who works in commercial real estate with his family’s company, Grupe Huber, based in Stockton.
Even better? They all live nearby, which makes impromptu dinners, backyard barbecues, and birthday bashes easy and frequent. The newest family additions—two adorable grandchildren—are already being groomed for golf and tennis greatness as the third generation of Ruby Hill kids.
Family Traditions with a Twist
This crew doesn’t just stick to the calendar—they create it. The Ackman men take annual fishing trips to Canada and suit up for their yearly pheasant hunt. Lately, Chas has added something new: father-son adventures. Jacob joined him in Germany for Oktoberfest. Zach got a whirlwind weekend in New Orleans. Up next? Deep-sea fishing in Florida with Chas Jr.
Vacation favorites include breezy trips to the British Virgin Islands, whirlwind tours through Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Germany, and the Netherlands), and sunny escapes to Hawaii. When they stay local, you’ll find them at Tayleo or hopping down to SoCal for a quick getaway.
One of their most beloved traditions? The Member-Guest Golf Tournament. Chas played for 20 years with his dad, Chuck—always in matching outfits for all four days. Now, Jacob has stepped into that role, keeping the tradition alive in full Ackman style.
Ruby Hill, The Ackman Way
With strong family ties, sharp careers, and a knack for building lasting traditions, the Ackmans have made Ruby Hill their playground, meeting place, and legacy.
So next time you're out for a walk, hitting the links, or just enjoying a breezy evening at the club, keep an eye out—you might just spot the Ackmans doing what they do best: showing us all how to live fully, laugh often, and never miss a chance for a great game of bocce.
