A Fond Farewell to the Simoncelli Family
Music, sports, and family traditions have always been at the heart of the Simoncelli household
After nearly four years in Salisbury and more than a decade in the Richmond area, the Simoncelli family is preparing to say goodbye. This summer, Zack, Britt, Stella (12), and Zoe (5) will return to western Pennsylvania to be closer to family and lifelong friends. While they are excited about the move, leaving behind a community that has meant so much to them is bittersweet. “As we wind down our time living in the area, we have so many favorite spots and activities that we will dearly miss,” Britt shared. “We expect to have a hard time replacing them.”
When the family moved to Salisbury, they were searching for more than a home—they wanted a neighborhood where their daughters could thrive. One of their favorite memories happened on move-in day. “Stella tentatively asked us, ‘Is it okay for me to get on my bike and… just ride around?’” Zack recalled. “We quickly responded, ‘Yes baby, that’s why we’re here!’” Minutes later, Stella returned home with a new best friend. “The plan worked!” the family laughed.
Over the years, the Simoncellis embraced everything Salisbury and Richmond had to offer. From summer afternoons at Lake Salisbury to coffee at Perk! and family dinners at Jo-Jo’s Pizza, they made the most of every season. “Lake Salisbury was one of the things that attracted us to the neighborhood in the first place,” Britt said. “We’ve enjoyed swimming and picnics there every summer.” Those moments helped transform neighbors into friends and Salisbury into home.
Music and soccer have long been at the heart of the Simoncelli family. Zack and Britt’s relationship began with a shared love of music, and that passion continues today. “Big shows, small shows—it doesn’t matter to us,” Zack said. “We just love to be present where the music is.” Their love of soccer has been just as important, with years spent supporting the Washington Spirit, coaching youth teams, and watching Stella and Zoe develop their own love for the game.
As they look ahead, the Simoncellis are excited for new adventures in Pennsylvania. But Salisbury will always hold a special place in their hearts. “This neighborhood gave us friendships, memories, and a true sense of belonging,” Zack reflected. As they head north, they leave behind a community grateful to have shared part of their journey and wishing them all the best in the years ahead.
