Honoring Service and Leadership Through Tradition

The Greensboro Symphony Guild has announced the nine young women who will be presented at the 48th annual Symphony Presentation Ball on December 28 at Grandover Resort & Spa. While the Ball is an elegant tradition, its purpose is to celebrate service, leadership, and the next generation’s commitment to the community.
Since 1978, more than 950 young women have been honored through the Guild’s Debutante Program. Each is recognized not only for academic and personal achievements, but also for her contributions to the community. The debutantes serve as ambassadors for the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra during their season, carrying forward the Guild’s mission of supporting the arts while encouraging a lifelong commitment to giving back.
“The Symphony Presentation Ball is about more than gowns and waltzes,” says event chair Brooke Fields. “It’s about recognizing young women who are already making an impact, and encouraging them to continue that spirit of service into adulthood.”
Among this year’s debutantes is Claire Kluttz, a University of North Carolina Wilmington student who says the program has been a meaningful opportunity for growth and connection. “Being a part of the Guild has been a great opportunity for me to grow myself and network with amazing role models,” she shares. “I’ve been able to meet new friends, connect with mentors, and be a part of something bigger than myself.”
Claire says her involvement with the Guild has deepened her appreciation for community service. “It has inspired me to give back to my community by showing me all the amazing things I can do in Greensboro,” she says. “It’s helped me grow into a better version of myself and given me a network of people to serve alongside in the future.”
Among her favorite experiences so far have been the Mother-Daughter Tea and the Family Picnic. “My mom is my biggest inspiration, so getting to go through this experience with her was really special,” she says. “I also loved the Family Picnic as I was able to talk with Mr. and Mrs. Richardson and connect with them alongside my family.”
This year’s debutantes are:
Claire Michelle Braswell, North Carolina State University
Cameron Aileen Caviness, William Peace University
Elizabeth Claire  Kluttz, University of North Carolina Wilmington
Molly Elaine Lovvorn, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill
Cecilia Ruth McDowell, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill
Sarah Elizabeth Parrish, Samford University
Rori Faith Rountree, University of North Carolina Wilmington
Jorja Lillie Shoffner, North Carolina State University
Audrey Ann Wrinkle, Liberty University
Throughout the year, the debutantes and their families take part in Guild-sponsored gatherings such as the Holiday Tea, Waltz Evening, and “A Night at the Symphony.” These events build lasting connections while underscoring the Guild’s mission of service and support for the arts. An annual donation on behalf of the debutantes also benefits the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra.
The Symphony Presentation Ball not only honors these young women, but also highlights the Guild’s ongoing commitment to cultivating community leaders. By recognizing service as a cornerstone of leadership, the Guild ensures that making a difference begins early—and continues for a lifetime.
