Delivering Comfort, Inspiring Hope
Sedgefield Woman’s Club Delivers Comfort and Care to Domestic Violence Survivors in Greensboro
In a heartfelt act of service and solidarity, the Sedgefield Woman’s Club marked their International Day of Service on October 1, 2025, by assembling and donating comfort care packages to domestic violence shelters across Greensboro. Partnering with Family Services of the Piedmont, the club’s Civic Engagement Committee led a community-driven effort to support survivors during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.
This fall, club members came together with purpose and compassion, collecting and assembling 22 complete comfort packages. Each package was thoughtfully arranged to provide both physical relief and emotional reassurance, containing:
• A soft pillow and cozy blanket
• A full set of sheets and towels
• Comfy socks for warmth and ease
• Lip balm and hand sanitizer for personal care
In addition to the full sets, members donated over a dozen extra sheet and towel sets to ensure shelters have additional resources for incoming guests.
“These packages are more than just supplies—they’re a message of hope,” said a club representative. “We want every recipient of one of these kits to feel seen, valued, and supported as they begin their healing journey.”
Domestic violence shelters offer critical refuge and services for individuals escaping unsafe environments. The items collected by the Sedgefield Woman’s Club will be distributed directly to shelter residents through Family Services of the Piedmont, providing comfort and dignity during a time of transition.
The club delivered their packages to Family Services of the Piedmont on Wednesday, October 1st, and met with Hali Kohls, Community Engagement Coordinator with Family Services of the Piedmont, who was overwhelmed and greeted us with “This is INCREDIBLE! Thank you SO MUCH! I cannot tell you how much this means to our staff and our clients.”
This initiative reflects the club’s enduring mission to serve, support, and strengthen the community. “This project is a shining example of how small acts, multiplied by many, can create lasting impact,” said the Civic Engagement Chair, Geri Sheffey. “We’re proud of our members’ generosity and deeply grateful for their commitment.”
