Building Relationships, One Home at a Time

Abbey Efird leads with relationships, family, and community as Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Revolution.

For Abbey Efird, real estate has always been about people.
“The market, technology, and industry trends have changed dramatically since I earned my license in 2000,” Abbey says. “But the part I enjoy most remains the same: building relationships and helping people through important life transitions.”
Today, Abbey serves as Broker/Owner of REMAX Revolution, leading a growing team while continuing to work with clients throughout the Triad and coastal markets in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Along the way, she has built a business rooted in community, mentorship, and family.
Family Is Everything
For Abbey and her husband, Robbie, family is at the heart of everything they do. Between them, they have four sons, a daughter-in-law, and an 11-year-old granddaughter named Aria.
Robbie's sons are Nick, who lives in Virginia and serves in the Navy—a source of great pride for the family—and Landon, who works alongside Abbey and Robbie in the family business. Abbey's sons are Nic, who lives in Greensboro and works for Live Nation, and Gabe, who recently married his longtime fiancée, Katie. The newlyweds now call Charlotte home.
The past year has been especially meaningful as the family celebrated Gabe and Katie's wedding. And when the conversation turns to Aria, Abbey's face lights up.
"Everything. Absolutely everything," she says when asked what she enjoys doing with her granddaughter. During the summer, the two spend plenty of time at the pool at Sedgefield Country Club, where Aria has become something of a celebrity among Abbey's friends and colleagues.
Aria also enjoys helping at Abbey's annual client appreciation event, greeting guests and handing out wristbands as families gather for an afternoon at the ballpark. The event has grown steadily over the years and now attracts as many as 200 clients, agents, and family members.
"I've seen a big difference in Greensboro with all the growth," she says. "The downtown community has really grown, which is fabulous."
Outside of work, Abbey and Robbie enjoy taking advantage of the lifestyle that drew them to this community. Whether they're heading to the beach, spending time on the boat, or playing a round of golf at Sedgefield Country Club, they make it a priority to carve out time together. Those moments, Abbey says, help keep life balanced amid the demands of a busy real estate career and growing family.
Greensboro is not Abbey's first home. She was born in Somerset West, a community near Cape Town, South Africa. Her family moved to Tennessee when she was young while her father studied for the ministry, returned to South Africa during her teenage years, and eventually came back to the United States when Abbey was 21. Today, her parents also call Greensboro home.
Looking back, Abbey says she appreciates having experienced different cultures and communities before ultimately settling in Greensboro, where she has now lived for nearly three decades
Growing a Business
Abbey's path into real estate began when she was looking for a new challenge. After earning her license in 2000, she built a successful career before stepping away from the business for a few years. With Robbie's encouragement, she returned in 2012 and eventually helped launch a boutique brokerage before purchasing a REMAX franchise.
Today, REMAX Revolution serves clients across multiple markets and continues to grow.
"What I really enjoy is meeting new people and having a career that offers flexibility," Abbey says. "People think owning a business means more freedom, but honestly, a lot of our work happens on weekends when everyone else is spending time with family."
Over the years, she has witnessed remarkable changes in the industry.
"When I started in real estate, there was no GPS. There were no smartphones," she says.
While technology has transformed the business, Abbey believes the fundamentals remain unchanged. Building trust, communicating clearly, and helping clients make informed decisions are still the keys to success.
"I always tell buyers to get pre-approved first," she says. "And if you love the house, buy the house."
She also reminds buyers that real estate remains one of the most effective ways to build long-term wealth.
Community and Team Culture
Abbey believes success brings opportunities to serve others. Through REMAX's long-standing partnership with Children's Miracle Network, she encourages agents to support fundraising efforts that benefit local children and families.
One program allows agents to make donations in honor of clients following a closing, with personalized cards sent through Children's Miracle Network on the client's behalf. Abbey hopes to expand participation within her office in the coming years.
"I'd definitely like to do more with the organization moving forward," Abbey says.
In recent years, Abbey has begun shifting some of her focus from selling homes to mentoring agents. It's a role she has discovered she genuinely enjoys.
"We have a great culture," she says. "Everybody enjoys working together. Everyone is at a different stage in their career, and everybody brings different strengths and perspectives."
She particularly takes pride in watching newer agents gain confidence and achieve milestones in their careers.
"I really enjoy mentoring them," she says. "When they're new, they're always anxious and wondering when they're going to get their first sale. Then a few months later, they're suddenly busy."
Seeing agents earn their first listing or celebrate their first closing never gets old.
"It's exciting," Abbey says.
Whether she's helping clients find a home, mentoring agents, supporting local causes, cheering on her family—including a son serving in the military—or spending time with her granddaughter, Abbey's focus remains the same. Relationships come first, and success follows from there.
