The Harris Family
With deep Carolina ties and a heart for connection, Jason and Jenny Harris have built a life in Sedgefield shaped by family, faith, and the moments that bring everyone back together.
These days, the Harris home is a little quieter than it once was—at least on the surface. With most of their five children now grown and building lives of their own, the rhythm has shifted. But the energy hasn’t disappeared; it simply arrives in waves.
“When everyone’s home, it’s full in the best way,” the family shares. “There’s just something about having everyone back under one roof.”
Even in the in-between moments, that connection carries through daily routines, weekend visits, and the anticipation of the next gathering.
Jason and Jenny have been building that rhythm together for more than 30 years, beginning with a chance meeting at UNC Chapel Hill—one with an unexpected twist.
After playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school, Jason arrived at Carolina and continued with club baseball and intramurals. But a friend on the cheer squad taught him how to do a standing back tuck, a skill that would quietly change everything.
“I got recruited to join the cheerleading team,” he says, “and Jenny was my first partner.”
They started as friends, but by the end of the fall semester, sparks were flying.
“We grew close pretty quickly,” he recalls. Not long after, they began dating and have been inseparable ever since.
A Carolina Foundation
Both raised in North Carolina—Jason in High Point and Jenny in Durham—their roots run deep. After college, they built a home in North High Point, where they spent nearly 30 years raising their five children.
Over time, the area around them began to change.
“Our rural location started to feel crowded,” Jason says. “We spent a few years looking for the right place, and Sedgefield just kept rising to the top.”
Two years ago, they made the move to Sedgefield, drawn by proximity to work, ease of travel, and a community already familiar through close friendships. As Jason notes, “It’s 20 minutes closer to Chapel Hill and Wrightsville Beach.”
A Family in Motion
The Harrises’ five children span nearly every stage of life, each adding a distinct layer to the family’s dynamic.
Caroline, 27, lives in Charlotte with her husband, Pearce, and their Golden Retriever, Partner. Lindsay, 25, recently married her high school sweetheart, Dawson, and now lives outside Chicago with their red lab, Lefty, while Dawson attends dental school.
Sarah Parker, a senior at UNC, serves as captain of the university’s dance team, following in the footsteps of her older sisters. Jace, a sophomore at Carolina, began college abroad in Limerick, Ireland before returning to campus, where he’s now involved with Chi Psi. At home, Sophie, 15, balances competitive dance, soccer, and her involvement with Mercy Hill Church and Young Life.
“We’re a Tar Heel family through and through,” Jason says. “Our four oldest children have gone to Carolina.”
Despite their different paths, the connection between them remains constant.
“All of our kids genuinely enjoy being together,” Jenny says. “That’s something we never take for granted.”
Community Beyond Home
That same sense of connection extends into nearly every part of their lives.
Jenny is deeply involved with Young Life in High Point, helping sustain the ministry after the loss of its area director. Alongside Brian Stroud and Emma Skinner, she leads weekly clubs and campaigner breakfasts, while organizing retreats and camps for local students.
Professionally, Jason owns two businesses with roots both personal and entrepreneurial. He grew up in Furnitureland South, the company his parents founded in 1969, and after college stepped into roles across sales, marketing, and technology—eventually becoming Vice President.
In 2013, he launched The Design Network, a lifestyle television platform built on long-standing relationships with designers and furniture brands. Today, it’s one of the fastest-growing networks in its space—and a true family effort, with their two oldest daughters now working there full-time.
Jenny, who began her career as a sixth-grade teacher in Guilford County, stepped away from the classroom when their first child was born and has been a full-time mom ever since, something Jason credits as foundational to their family’s closeness.
Milestones at Home
Their Sedgefield home has quickly become the setting for some of their most meaningful milestones.
Within the past three years, they’ve hosted two weddings on their property—first Caroline’s, before the home was finished, and then Lindsay’s two summers later.
They’ve also opened their home during the Wyndham Championship to friends and PGA Tour players, families, and tournament executives. “It’s our favorite week of the year in Sedgefield,” adds Jason. “Our longtime friend PGA Tour player Matt Kuchar stays with us, and we host something pretty much every day, including the PGA Tour Fellowship group and our annual Sunday morning breakfast with Jim Nantz.”
Beyond those moments, it’s the everyday that defines life here: home-cooked meals each night, time spent staying active, and a shared commitment to health, travel, and time together.
Even Cooper, a Beagle and Jack Russell mix, keeps watch over it all (while still adjusting to the occasional chaos of visiting granddogs).
A Place That Feels Like Home
For the Harris family, Sedgefield offers something both familiar and new—a place where long-standing values meet a new season of life.
They stay connected through friendships, time at Sedgefield Country Club, and neighborhood traditions like the Wyndham Championship and Angel Tree Open.
But more than anything, it’s the people who stand out.
“It’s the relationships,” Jason says. “There’s such a strong sense of connection here.”
And in a life that continues to evolve, that sense of belonging remains constant.
“We’ve loved every minute of being here,” he says. “It truly feels like home.”
