Scholarship Recipients In Sedgefield

Join us in congratulating the first recipients of the Ragsdale Scholar Athlete Scholarship, Ella Perez and Harrison Howard!

The Ragsdale Athletic Booster Club is proud to be able to present a new $500 scholarship to a male and female scholar-athlete this year. The Ragsdale Scholar Athlete Scholarship stands as a recognition of the exceptional achievements of two individuals who have not only excelled academically but have also demonstrated outstanding athleticism and dedication to sports at Ragsdale High School. The criteria for this award required excellence both in the field of play and in the classroom. To qualify, the recipients must have been dual-sport athletes, contributing their talents to at least two varsity sports at Ragsdale High School. The recipients must have participated in the athletics at Ragsdale, contributing their time, energy, and passion to their respective sports for at least two full academic years, with one of those years being their senior year. They must have exhibited the highest levels of academic achievement, showcasing a dedication to academic excellence.

Ella Perez
Ella has proven herself to be an outstanding athlete throughout her high school career,
participating in women's tennis, swimming, and women's lacrosse. Her commitment to
excellence has not gone unnoticed, as she was selected to the 4A metro all-conference team in
women's tennis.
In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Ella has also excelled academically, achieving the
highest GPA among the female multi-sport athletes at Ragsdale. Her commitment to both
academics and athletics has set her apart as a true role model for her fellow athletes.
Ella will continue her education at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC) in the fall.
We have no doubt that she will continue to excel both on and off the field, representing her
school and community with pride.

Harris Howard
Harrison has demonstrated remarkable talent and commitment throughout his high school career, participating in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. His achievements in these sports have been nothing short of exceptional. Harrison accomplished a rare feat by winning the Guilford County Championship in cross country, the one-mile race in indoor track, and the two-mile race in outdoor track. In addition to his impressive race victories, Harrison also left a lasting mark on Ragsdale High School by setting a new school record in cross country, surpassing a record that stood since 2001. He also set a school record in the 1000-meter indoor race, breaking a record that had been in place since 2003.
Harrison's dedication to his academics has been equally commendable, as he achieved the highest GPA among the male multi-sport athletes. His ability to balance his studies and athletic pursuits is evidence of his hard work and determination.
Harrison will continue his education at Appalachian State University in the fall. While pursuing
his academic goals, Harrison also plans to participate in club sports, further showcasing his
passion for athletics and dedication to his personal growth.
