Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Take Part in Strides for CJD Walk
Raising $10,500 for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease Research in Honor of Former Southeast Valley Office Manager at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, Cathy Green, who passed from CJD in 2024
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, a group of representatives from Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, led by Seville neighbor Kim Weber, gathered together for a very important and personal cause: raising funds and awareness surrounding Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) and the CJD Foundation.
The dedicated team took part in the Strides for CJD Walk in Seville, in loving memory of the late Cathy Green, a former Southeast Valley Office Manager at Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty. Green led the office from 2019 until her passing from CJD in 2024, leaving a profound and lasting impact on everyone she worked with.
While Arizona does not currently have an official Strides for CJD event, the Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Southeast Valley office has organized its own local walk for the past two years to honor loved ones and support the cause. This year’s team raised $10,500 for the CJD Foundation, earning them the Strides for CJD 2025 Top Fundraising Team/5th Place Nationwide Winner award.
The annual nationwide walks/runs are organized by the CJD Foundation to raise awareness of
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), which is a rare, fatal neurodegenerative disease with no known treatment or cure. The event supports the Foundation’s mission by raising funds for family support services, medical education, and critical research programs.
The Cathy Green Legacy Team walked proudly in Green’s honor, fondly remembering the beloved mother, grandmother, colleague and friend who truly embodied the true spirit of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty by being kind, supportive, compassionate, and deeply committed to her team and community.
The 52 dedicated participants from Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty were joined during the Strides for CJD Walk by a family of eight, who walked in tribute to their own loved one affected by CJD.
As Kim Weber, a close friend of Green and organizer of the walk noted, the day was a heartfelt celebration of love, remembrance, and hope that united friends, family and colleagues to support a cause that is deeply personal.
“Witnessing someone suffer from a debilitating disease with no cure leaves you feeling helpless. After Cathy passed, I wanted to 'fight' and make a difference. The Strides for CJD Walk offered a way to do just that; to band together as a community, raising money to remember Cathy's legacy and help find a cure,” Wever said. “We knew, rain or shine, Cathy was looking down on us, proud to see us in our Cathy Green Legacy Team purple shirts. Cathy meant so much to so many people. For me she was a best friend, a mentor, a role model, a mother and she truly had the biggest heart. She was not just my managing broker; she was a confidant, counselor, and teacher. Her passing left a big hole in my heart, but I am incredibly thankful to have been part of her world for the time we had here on earth. She left a tremendous impact on so many lives, including mine, teaching me gratitude, strength in faith, and leading with intention and love. I miss her, but I know I have an angel watching over me every day.”
