A Legacy of Service and Community- Meet the Romoser Family

After 20 years with the Marine Corps, Lt. Col. Matthew Romoser and his family have found their forever home in Shadow Valley.

Military Roots
Service has always been at the center of life for the Romoser family. Lt. Col. Matthew Romoser dedicated two decades to the United States Marine Corps, serving in nine states and deploying overseas four times. His military career took him across the globe and his family across the country, shaping not only their experiences but their resilience and unity as a household.

Matthew, originally from Maryland, earned a Business degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and later a master’s in Supply Chain from the University of Kansas. His journey through the Marine Corps included assignments from coast to coast and beyond, always with Florina, his steadfast partner, at his side. Florina, born in Romania and raised in Pennsylvania, met Matthew outside Quantico, Virginia. At the time, he had just completed the Officer Basic Course, and she was working with the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C.

A Family Shaped by Service
Over the course of Matthew’s career, the Romoser family lived in 8 different places—packing, unpacking, and rebuilding a sense of home time and again. Florina reflects, “We fell in love with the nature in Arkansas, and after years of moving, this finally feels like home.” That sense of belonging was what ultimately drew them to settle in Shadow Valley after Matthew’s retirement four years ago.

Together they raised three children who have grown up immersed in the values of service and adaptability. Kidron who was crowned Miss Western Arkansas, studies Speech Pathology at Ouachita Baptist University. Shiloh, also at Ouachita, is studying Cyber Security and participating in ROTC, carrying forward the family’s military tradition. Their youngest, Shechem, is in sixth grade and plays clarinet.

Life Beyond the Corps
Though retired from active duty, Matthew’s commitment to leadership continues in his role with Walmart’s Merchandise Operations, focusing on safety stock. Florina manages the Northwest Arkansas team for Lifetouch and has also run Florina Photography for more than 18 years. Together, they remain deeply engaged in their church, leading the children’s ministry for grades 1–4 and volunteering at community events.

Traditions and Community Spirit
The Romoser family brings the same sense of discipline and celebration they carried during military life into their holidays. At Christmas, Florina’s family travels from Pennsylvania, and the house fills with Romanian specialties, friends, and a tradition of taking turns reading the Christmas story in the Bible before presents are opened.
Here in Shadow Valley, the family has enjoyed being part of the Parade of Homes, canoeing on the Buffalo River, shopping at the Rogers Farmers Market, and celebrating the neighborhood’s July 4th parade.
