From Shelter Pup to Shadow Valley Sweetheart, Meet Stormy

I’m Storm Dog, a Lab-Border Collie mix with a big heart, deep love for peanut butter, and a serious dislike of popcorn.

Howdy!

Hi there! I’m Storm Dog, though most of my friends call me Stormy. I’m a four-year-old Borador — that’s a fancy way of saying I’m half Labrador Retriever and half Border Collie. I was adopted from the Paws and Claws shelter in Huntsville when I was just three months old. My humans have lived in the Shadow Valley Townhomes for almost nine years, but I joined the family four years ago when I was just a baby.

A Name with Family Ties
People are always curious about my name. It sounds strong, right? My mom named me after her grandfather and uncle — their last name was Storment, which eventually turned into the nickname “Stormy.” I like to think it fits me perfectly: I’m loyal, full of energy, and occasionally a little dramatic.

Life in the Neighborhood
I settled into Shadow Valley life quickly. There’s always something going on — golf carts buzzing by, neighbors out walking, and plenty of other pups to meet. I spend a lot of time in my front yard lounging in my coolaroo, watching everything that moves. My favorite hangout, though, is the clubhouse patio, where I can greet everyone who walks by like I’m the neighborhood hostess.

My Herding Instinct Never Sleeps
I’m known for my sweet nature and my strong herding instincts. I take my job as guardian of the grandkids — Liam and Harvie — very seriously. When they’re around, I keep a close eye on them, circling and guiding to make sure they’re safe. It’s in my DNA!

Born to Play Ball
I’ve also got a competitive streak. I love chasing tennis balls and could easily play outfield for the Razorbacks. My ball collection is so big it has its own bin/ ff you throw one, I’ll bring it back every time — though I might insist we keep the game going forever.

Peanut Butter and Popcorn
But there’s one thing I just can’t handle — popcorn. The sound of it popping sends me running straight for the backyard until it’s all over. My humans think it’s funny, but I take my snack safety very seriously. On the flip side, I can’t resist peanut butter. A spoonful of that, and I’m in heaven.

Golf Cart Rides and Deer Patrol
Every evening, we go for golf cart rides around the neighborhood. I’m not a huge fan of the cart itself, but I hate missing out even more. So, I perch on Mom’s lap, hang my head out, and watch for deer along the way. It’s become our family tradition.

Furry Friends and Favorite Treats
I have a great group of neighborhood friends, too. My best pals are Moxie the Bernedoodle, Crazy Maisie the kitty across the street, and Bella the Lab down the road. Moxie visits often — and if she ever sneaks out, she comes straight to my backyard! I also love tagging along for errands, especially if they end with a pup cup from Andy’s or Seven Brew.

Forever Home, Forever Loved
Around here, life is good — full of friends, treats, and love. I may have started as a shelter pup, but Shadow Valley is my forever home, and I couldn’t imagine a better pack to call my own.
