Dr. Christine Grogan has always been passionate about helping women with breast cancer. She worked on breast reconstruction and played a key role in launching breast implants at Allergan while in California. She believes in the importance of the Women’s Health Cancer Rights Act of 1988, which states that all women are entitled to breast reconstruction. However, due to the current insurance landscape and the lack of healthcare access for many women, this right is not being fully realized.
In 2012, Grogan founded the BRAVE Coalition Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting women with breast cancer, especially those facing health disparities, in accessing resources for breast reconstruction. Her involvement encompasses fundraising, supporting patients, conducting research, managing finances, overseeing the board, and even handling janitorial tasks. The rewards of her volunteer work are countless, but she finds particular fulfillment in helping women receive the care they deserve after a mastectomy..
BRAVE® Coalition Foundation strongly believes in the right of individuals to choose their post-mastectomy care. As advocates for breast cancer survivors, they aim to:
- Advocate for and influence legislation and the insurance industry.
- Educate breast cancer survivors about their restoration options.
- Streamline access to care and other valuable resources.
Grogan has a long-standing commitment to philanthropic efforts. Early in her career, Pfizer sent her to Africa, where she worked with a nonprofit organization. In the late 1990s, she volunteered for AMREF Flying Doctors, a charity that provided vital surgeries for African children with facial deformities and women with fistulas in remote areas. She worked alongside surgeons and helped fundraise for the organization for over a decade. Grogan emphasizes the importance of giving back, saying, "Wherever you work, I encourage you to try to give back. As women in healthcare, we can set an example. It’s one of my core values that I want to carry with me wherever I go."

Christine and her husband, Dave, moved to Shavano Park in February 2014. However, they had to relocate to St. Louis for two years with their daughter, Brielle. Missing the area and their friends, they returned in 2024. "We love the mayor, police, and firefighters for the way they serve the community. We lived on Fawn for many years and enjoyed our wonderful neighbors. Now, we have bought a new home on the west side of NW Military, where we have equally amazing neighbors. So, we have experienced living on both sides!"
