Celebrating Community
The Power of Welcoming New Neighbors
As we celebrate 70 years since our city’s incorporation, it seemed like the right time to reflect on the many families who have helped shape our wonderful city. Since 1956, our community has welcomed countless new neighbors, each bringing their unique stories and experiences. Several of these stories have been featured in Stroll since the magazine began delivering to your mailboxes in 2013!
Many of us, myself included, have fond memories of being welcomed when we first arrived. I moved here in 1988 and was fortunate to connect with a neighbor who took the time to introduce herself and share insights about Shavano Park. That warm gesture made all the difference for me, and I cherish our friendship to this day.
While we all lead busy lives, taking a moment to greet new residents can have a meaningful impact. A simple hello can help newcomers feel more at home. Building connections, even in small ways, contributes to a stronger, safer community where we look out for one another.
Let's all consider welcoming the next family that moves in and show that we are part of a caring and supportive community. This simple act of kindness just might lead to a lasting friendship!
