Double the Spots, Double the Love - Meet Molly & Phoebe
With matching spots, playful personalities, and rescue stories that led them home, Molly and Phoebe have become beloved members of their family - and neighborhood favorites in Shearwater!
Meet Molly and Phoebe, two lovable spotted dogs with very different beginnings but one thing in common: they were meant to be together.
Molly, believed to be around seven years old, joined the family in September 2022 after an especially difficult start to life. Before being adopted, she had already lived with six different owners. Independent and calm, Molly now enjoys the stability and comfort she had long been missing.
Phoebe, estimated to be around four years old, arrived in December 2024 after being rescued from the side of the road. Unlike Molly, Phoebe is all about cuddles and affection.
“We call her a real-life Squishmallow,” the family laughs.
Although the two dogs came from completely different places, there was one funny coincidence that immediately stood out: they both have spots. In fact, people often assume they’re related.
As for their actual breeds? That’s still a mystery.
“You take a guess and tell us what you think?” the family jokes.
What Molly and Phoebe may lack in pedigree certainty, they more than make up for in personality. Both dogs share a passion for chasing lizards around the backyard and love spending time outdoors together. One of the family’s favorite memories was discovering just how much Molly loved lizard hunting.
“Watching how happy she is outside trying to catch them is the best,” they share.
Phoebe’s arrival also created a special holiday memory for the family. They picked her up on Christmas Eve and surprised their daughters by bringing her home as an unexpected Christmas gift.
While Molly prefers her independence - and has little interest in toys despite the family’s many attempts — Phoebe has fully embraced playtime. Her favorite companion is a stuffed bear appropriately named “Dr. Nibbles.”
The dogs especially enjoy exploring the walking trails throughout Shearwater, though their favorite place to be is simply together in the backyard.
And if Molly and Phoebe could dream up their perfect adventure?
“They’d definitely want their own version of The Crocodile Hunter,” the family says, “except it would focus entirely on lizards around the world.”
From rough beginnings to a home filled with love, Molly and Phoebe’s story is proof that sometimes the best families are the ones who find each other unexpectedly
