Precious Pets

From backyard playdates to dancing for treats, Bella the Pomeranian-Dachshund mix brings joy, charm, and plenty of personality to her Shearwater family!

Hi neighbors! My name is Bella, and I’m a 7-year-old Pomeranian–Dachshund mix, though around here I run things more like a queen. My family and I moved to Shearwater about seven months ago, and let me tell you-I love it here!
I came into my family’s life right before my humans got married. Technically, I was supposed to be Mom’s Valentine’s Day gift, but shhh…between us, Dad is my favorite person in the whole wide world. Mom calls herself “the spare human,” which makes me laugh, but don’t worry-I give her plenty of cuddles too.
Everyone who knows me knows one thing: I LOVE food. Begging is an art form, and I’ve perfected it. I stand on my back legs, wave my front paws, and put on what my family calls my “dancing for treats” routine. Works every time! And when I’m not performing, you’ll probably find me chasing toy bunnies, squirrels, or birds-anything I can imagine myself hunting.
Some of my best memories are cozy ones. Every once in a while, I sneak under the covers and curl up in Dad’s arms, resting my head on the pillow like a little human. Mom always laughs when she finds me there in the morning.
Around the neighborhood, my backyard is my kingdom. I hang out there with my big brother Chewy, and sometimes we even play through the fence with our neighbor Captain. When I’m not ruling the backyard, I love visiting my Papa and Gigi on the South Bank in downtown Jacksonville. The Riverwalk is one of my favorite places to strut my stuff.
If I could pick my dream adventure, it would definitely be a park filled with squirrels-so.many.squirrels. I’d never know which way to run first! Until then, I’m perfectly happy chasing love, treats, and sunshine right here in Shearwater.
