The Scottsdale Gallery Association has been producing its weekly Thursday night ArtWalk for 50 years, and counting, earning its rightful position as the nation’s longest-running Art Walk. In addition to its weekly Thursday night events, the SGA presents special Gold Palette ArtWalks multiple times throughout the year.

These themed events typically align with the season, holidays, or special events presented by the city of Scottsdale, such as Western Week and Scottsdazzle. During these events, not only is free entertainment included to enhance the experience, such as strolling carolers during the festive holiday-themed Scottsdazzle Gold Palette ArtWalk for example, but many participating galleries also host individual events within their galleries that align with the chosen theme.

This February, the Gold Palette ArtWalk is themed Demonstrate: Sculpture. The event takes place Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and features entertainment throughout the Scottsdale Arts District, as well as specialty exhibitions and live demonstrations within participating SGA-member galleries.

Every SGA ArtWalk presents a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, artists, and collectors alike. The environment itself — the beautiful streets of Old Town aglow with twinkling lights — set the scene for a fun date night for art lovers, groups of friends and visitors. Restaurants, wine and coffee shops and retailers conveniently surround the art galleries, so a stroll through the Scottsdale Arts District is for everyone, not just those with an eye for art.

Those that do, however, will be pleased by not only the multitude of galleries, but also the variety of mediums represented by the SGA galleries and the district itself. In addition to galleries that focus on sculpture, there are modern and contemporary galleries, Western-themed galleries, fine art jewelers, and much more.

Oftentimes, guests can enjoy meet-and-greets with the artists whose works are on exhibition as well as experience live painting demonstrations. These opportunities allow guests to truly immerse themselves in the theme of the evening and get to know the artists behind the masterpieces they may bring into their own homes for display. SGA ArtWalks are presented free of charge and free parking abounds in Old Town.
