Meet our 2025 Precious Pets

From loyal companions and playful puppies to rescue heroes and seasoned snuggle experts, our pets fill DC Ranch homes with unconditional love, laughter, and comfort. This year’s beloved pets remind us that family comes in many forms—often with four legs, wagging tails, and gentle purrs. Throughout the months ahead, we’re celebrating the pets who brighten our days, heal our hearts, and make DC Ranch an even more joyful place to call home.

FEBRUARY
The Schaefer-Oatis Family’s trio—Lenny the protective Frenchie, Laine the clever Boston Terrier, and Leo the gentle young Lab—filled their home with constant joy this year. Whether sunbathing by the pool or relaxing in their “dog sanctuary,” these three best friends continue to bring the family endless love and laughter.

MARCH
Dax, the Andre family’s 13-week-old Goldendoodle, has quickly become the energetic heart of the home. Adopted from a farm in Waddell, he went from “calmest pup” to lovable chaos, keeping big sister Remi busy. With a name inspired by AI and a talent for mischief, he’s already bringing unforgettable puppy moments.

APRIL
Kat Thatcher and Dale Tarzia share their home with four rescue pups—Miniature Pinschers Penelope, Nessie, Lucy, and Zoey the Chihuahua. From Penelope the tiny leader to Lucy the sweet three-legged velcro dog, each has a unique rescue story and personality. Loved and spoiled, their pack brings humor and heart to every day.

MAY
Indiana “Indy,” the Nuss family’s 4-year-old mini Bernedoodle, is beloved for his tricks, upbeat personality, and playful antics—like hiding under a backyard bush during a game of accidental hide-and-seek. Spoiled with toys and affection, Indy brings comfort and laughter to his family daily.

JUNE
Gatsby, cherished cat of George and Debbie Sevilis, was adopted from PAWS Chicago and now reigns as “king of the castle.” Known for greeting everyone warmly and curling up in laps, he charms even non–cat lovers. Wary only of suitcases, he fills the Sevilis home with affection and personality.

JULY
Maisie and Wilbur, the Phillips family’s one-year-old Westie siblings, are inseparable cuddle bugs who bring nonstop joy. Maisie is full of energy while mellow Wilbur keeps things calm. They love golf cart rides, sunbathing, and ringing their bell to go outside, filling the home with the sweetest companionship after the family’s recent loss of their previous dogs.

AUGUST
Nacho, a resilient 5-year-old Chihuahua, has been part of the Cihocki–Felton family since he was rescued at 7 weeks old with two broken front legs. After surgeries and healing, he’s thriving and very spoiled—known for stealing socks, demanding soft places to rest, and joining in every hug. Loved endlessly, he’s brought joy and a new rhythm to the home.

SEPTEMBER
Aspen, a glamorous 4-year-old yellow Lab with a touch of Goldendoodle, lives with her parents, Jeanne and Alex Leckie, and her chocolate Lab sister, Montana. Named for her family’s favorite Aspen-grove walks, she’s a champion swimmer, surprise hug-giver, talking-button communicator, and even contributes to AI wolf-calling sounds. Spoiled and adored, Aspen keeps her family constantly entertained.

OCTOBER
Ollie and Charlie, the Shultz family’s 13- and 8-year-old Westies, are beloved for their gentle, affectionate personalities. They prefer snuggles to long walks but charm everyone they meet. Mark and Michele say the dogs don’t spoil easily—if anything, Ollie and Charlie spoil them, filling the home with warmth and love.

NOVEMBER
Fenway, a gentle 6–8-year-old rescue, has quickly become the peaceful heart of his DC Ranch home. Adopted from Foothills Animal Rescue, he won over Jim and Kaelynn Dixon with his calm, cuddly nature. Now settled in with walks, car rides, and cool-floor naps, Fenway has brought renewed joy and purpose to his family.

Stella, a five-year-old Vizsla, enjoys all the luxuries of DC Ranch—from pool lounging to first-class travel—and celebrates special days with her favorite treat: fresh salmon.

DECEMBER
Jack and Cooper, three-year-old poodle-mix brothers adopted from Help a Dog Smile, have become the joyful heart of the Melton home. Jack is the playful clown, Cooper the gentle sweetheart, and together they’re inseparable “Velcro dogs.” With funny quirks like Jack’s refusal to jump into the car and Cooper’s love of sitting under the shower, these spoiled boys bring their family endless laughter, love, and comfort.
