Philip and Loubna Pla’s love story spans continents, cultures, and more than two decades, rooted in a shared commitment to family, hard work, and living life fully together.
Married for 23 years, the couple first met in Tampa, Florida—an encounter that would set them on a remarkable journey across the globe. Philip had moved to the United States at age 17, initially settling in Salt Lake City in 1991 before spending 15 years in San Diego. After meeting Loubna, the two spent a meaningful year together in Lebanon before returning to the U.S. to begin building their life and family.
Loubna, originally an endodontist and university instructor in Lebanon, demonstrated extraordinary determination after relocating to the United States by completing her specialty training again at Boston University’s Dental School. The couple spent four formative years in Boston, where their first son, Ian, was born. From there, their path led them to the Pacific Northwest, where they opened their first endodontic practice in 2010—an exciting chapter marked by both professional growth and the arrival of sons Alec and Lance.
Now newly settled in their Scottsdale neighborhood after purchasing their home in April 2025, the Pla family is embracing this next season with the same enthusiasm that has guided them through every move. Though still getting to know the area, they already enjoy exploring the DC Ranch community trails, hiking at Gateway Trailhead, and spending time together at spots like Topgolf and Mavrix.
An active lifestyle is at the heart of the Pla household. From biking, boating, wakesurfing, skiing, hiking, and tennis to family travel adventures spanning Hawaii, Europe, and the Middle East, they thrive on shared experiences. Sports fandom is equally diverse, with loyalties to the Seahawks, New England Patriots, Red Sox, and Sounders FC, though tennis holds a special place in their hearts. Watching Grand Slam tournaments together—and attending Indian Wells —has become a beloved family tradition.
Their multicultural background plays a meaningful role in daily life. With roots in the United States, France, and Lebanon, the Plas blend traditions from all three. They celebrate classic American holidays alongside French customs like Mardi Gras with homemade crêpes and Bastille Day dinners. Lebanese holidays such as Easter and St. Barbara’s Day (“Eid el-Burbara”) are centered around food, family, and connection, often accompanied by dishes like kafta, loubieh, tabbouleh, and fattoush, with Fairuz playing softly in the background.
When it’s time to unwind, the family keeps things simple—pool time, relaxing in the hot tub, family movie nights, and cooking together in the kitchen. A favorite family dinner is tender chicken cooked with mushrooms in a creamy sauce, served over rice.
Their pride shines brightest when talking about their children. Lance, a seventh grader at Charles Wright Academy, is a Level 9 gymnast whose dedication since age eight continues to inspire. Alec, a freshman at the same school, trains at the Gorin Tennis Academy and competes in tournaments throughout Washington and beyond. Oldest son Ian is a sophomore at Boston University studying Biology. His commitment to service led him to join ROTC, and this year he signed an eight-year contract with the U.S. Army—a source of immense pride for the entire family.
As they continue settling into their new community, Philip and Loubna look forward to building connections, staying active, and creating the next chapter of memories—together.
