Fire Safety Starts at the Top: Trust Storm Help Pro for Your Roofing Solution
Protecting Your Home with Expert Installation and Seamless Insurance Assistance

With insurance renewals becoming a hot topic in Colorado these days, replacing the roof can be the most important step to assuring adequate coverage to protect your home. In this Spotlight, Jeff Posey, the owner of Storm Help Pro, sheds light on the roofing products available and the ways in which his company can facilitate the process of interacting with your insurance agency and installing a new fire-retardant roof.
How did you end up in Colorado?
I moved to Colorado for my wife, Elizabeth. I had six roofing locations around the country and one of my offices was in Colorado, so it made it really easy to move to Aspen.
What inspired you to get into the roofing business, and how long have you been in the industry?
I’ve been in the industry since 2007, and previously, I was a general contractor and developer in Orange Beach, Alabama. I was asked to come help rebuild after hurricane Katrina in New Orleans with Dan Ackroyd as my partner. The insurance companies came to me and asked if I would help them install new roofs on all the commercial buildings and homes that had been destroyed. Roofing companies were stealing insurance money and leaving homeowners with damaged roofs.
What products and services does Storm Help Pro offer, and do you specialize in any particular types of roofing?
We offer all types of specialty roofs including custom fabricated, standing seam, metal, composite, such as DaVinci and CeDUR, as well as commercial flat roofs and coatings for metal and TPO roofs (Thermoplastic Polyolefin, a form of single-ply roofing membrane). We also specialize in interior restoration repair of sheet rock, painting, and hardwood floors.
What role does Storm Help Pro play in helping homeowners navigate the insurance process for a roof replacement?
I’ve been working with insurance companies for over 18 years dealing with weather damaged roofs. At Storm Help Pro, we prepare detailed drone reports of the damaged roof, along with weather data showing how the damage occurred and when. In addition, we complete interior inspection reports showing the water damage and leaks that have occurred because of the weather damaged roof.
We submit these reports to the insurance company and help the customer open the claim for the specific date and the particular damage caused to the roof. We then meet with the adjuster and work with the insurance company to get the customer’s roof replaced as quickly and efficiently as possible. We take care of all the permits and deal with any issues that the insurance company might have.
What makes your approach to insurance claims unique, and how do you ensure homeowners receive the coverage they deserve?
From the start, we are very detailed in our reports regarding both the roof damage and the interior damage before we ever submit a claim to the insurance company. This helps with a faster approval process as well as building the trust needed with the customer and the insurance company. I am not aware of many roofing companies that do the type of detailed reports we offer before the claim is even opened. Our approval rate is over 85%. We also offer financing for new roofs in the event the claim is denied by the insurance company.
Aside from protecting their home, how else do homeowners benefit from installing a new roof?
We offer Class A fire-retardant roofs that can help customers lower their insurance premiums in Colorado.
How do you differentiate Storm Help Pro from other roofing companies in the area?
We are a local roofing company that has been around for over 18 years and has been in the construction industry for over 35 years. We have over 25 reviews on Google and a five-star rating and a list of over 40 referrals.
What should homeowners be aware of when choosing a roofing company, especially regarding insurance claims?
Most roofing companies in our area do not specialize in submitting insurance claims. Homeowners must be aware of roofing companies that will give you a low bid, but after the roof is installed, they are no longer available for any warranty work.
The roofing industry gets a bad rap for scamming homeowners. How do you address that reputation?
In 2011, I started a nonprofit organization called roofscamhelp.com to help homeowners who have been taken by roofing companies and have lost their money from the insurance company for a roof replacement.
The roofing industry in Colorado was the number one scam industry at one time. In Denver, I learned of many situations where contractors would take payment for services and products and then not deliver. Homeowners need to be aware; they need to do the necessary research on any roofing company they are considering and be sure to call their references before choosing a contractor.
What interests or activities do you enjoy outside the roofing business?
I am chairman of the Aspen High School Flight Academy, where we teach high school students how to become private pilots and enter the aviation industry. I’ve been a private pilot myself for the last 25 years, logging over 4,000 flight hours in both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. When I am not in the air, I love to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
