From the Streets of Rio to the Heart of a Home:
Rosangela the Cat’s Whiskered Tale of Love, Mischief, and Family

Hi, there! My name is Rosangela, a green eyed, white and gray striped cat from the streets of Rio de Janeiro. I am currently 6 years old, and have been living with two beautiful women ever since I was 3 months old and was adopted by a rather crazy and impulsive but, definitely, loving fifteen year old. Her name is Rafaella and the day she saw me on the adoption site it was love at first sight, except there was a little issue… her parents did not enjoy cats at all. But I saw she was determined to bring me home with her and later found out what she did. She took me as a secret only shared with her best friend and grandmother, with whom she was very close with and not only loved cats but already had one, the very wise Melvin. The day after the adoption, she took me to the house of her grandmother Sylvia and great grandmother Beatriz, and that became my very special home.
Here, I’ve had many friends and a busy lifestyle, especially when I was being played with by my uncle Leonardo or stealing Melvin's cat food to see how he would react. At first it wasn’t easy to get him to like me since I was extremely young and agitated and he was already a mature cat, but after months of living together, he started wanting to play with me and it melted my heart. A rather similar situation happened with Rafaella’s great grandmother. At first, she was very annoyed by my presence and called Rafaella all the time to complain about things I did, but I always knew it was just a matter of time and patience before she fell in love with me as well. To be honest, that never really happened, but she definitely stopped being scared of me and started to enjoy my presence from a distance which honestly was more than enough for me, since it’s not always that you get to hang out with a 98 year old!
My life has had some ups and downs, Leo eventually moved out to Canada, Melvin passed away and I accompanied the last years of life of the amazing Beatriz but I don’t regret a single second. I am always trying to make the house more fun and the energy lighter and I am very proud to say that I have definitely achieved that in many different moments. I wish I could see Rafaella more often but everytime she comes to visit me it feels like the love created on the day we saw each other for the first time has not only been kept but beautifully developed overtime. I am very grateful to Sylvia for having been such an amazing owner and having accepted me with no hesitation as well as all the amazing humans and animals I got to meet in these past 6 years. I’m very excited for what’s next!
