A Message from Our Las Cruces Mayor Enriquez

Happy America 250! It is my honor to serve as the Mayor of Las Cruces as the USA hits this significant milestone.

Sonoma Ranch is my home and I am proud to be part of our Las Cruces community.

We have made some significant strides over the last couple years as we’ve focused on Public Safety, Economic Development, and Quality of Life for All.

In the coming year, we will continue to focus on improving Public Safety.  We will be opening the new Fire Station on the East Mesa that GO Bond voters approved in 2022.

We will continue to work with our partners at the county and state levels to build out a regional driving track for training and we continue to see improvements with our Real Time Crime Center.

In addition to public safety, we’ll be focusing on economic development and job opportunities for our community. We’re continuing to focus on the Metropolitan Redevelopment Areas and finding ways to revitalize those areas of town.

We’re working with NMSU and DACC on workforce training and development programs and partnering with LCPS to make sure we support our students and give them the best opportunities to thrive and prepare for careers after graduation.

And we’ll be focusing on Quality of Life for all in our community. The City will be improving City facilities with the recent GRT increase for capital improvements and continuing to improve our parks and other community spaces.

A major upcoming project is the Library renovation. We’ve pursued many different sources on funding to renovate the library and bring it into the modern world. This is a safe no-cost place for young people to engage, interact, learn and grow. Our library serves everyone from infants to seniors, it is a real community asset. We’ll be asking voters to consider approving a GO Bond to build this out in the next couple years.

There are so many amazing things happening in Las Cruces. As I look around, I am reminded that I am proud to be an American, I am proud to be a New Mexican, and I am most proud to be a Las Crucen. Happy 4th to all the residents of our beautiful city!
