Adeline Adams
Athlete Spotlight: Adeline “Shark” Adams
At just eight years old, second-grader Adeline Adams is already making waves—literally and figuratively—in the Spaulding Farm athletic community. A proud resident since she was one year old, Adeline has grown up surrounded by the friends, families, and fun that make Spaulding Farm such a special place. From neighborhood pool days to community events, she loves being part of a place where her teammates and friends are always close by.
Diving Into Swimming and Sprinting Ahead
Adeline is a dedicated swimmer on both the Spaulding Farm Swim Team and Team Greenville, where her passion for the water shines. Known lovingly as “Shark” by her family, she started swimming without floaties at just two years old—an early sign of the talent and confidence she carries into every race. Her favorite stroke is freestyle, and she thrives in sprint events over long distances.
But Adeline isn’t just a star in the pool. She also plays soccer, where she’s tried several positions but discovered she loves playing forward the most. She enjoys the energy of the game, the teamwork, and the fun of competing alongside her neighborhood friends.
Inspired by Family and Fueled by Fun
Sports have always been a natural part of Adeline’s world. Her father, who swam from childhood through college, is one of her biggest inspirations and her go-to source for tips on strokes, turns, and starts. She also credits soccer with helping her grow as a teammate and leader. The combination of both sports has helped her become strong, versatile, and confident—especially with those powerful kicks in soccer thanks to hours in the pool.
Memories That Shine
Some of Adeline’s favorite memories come from big swim meets, where she thrives in the excitement of competing and cheering on her teammates. One of her proudest moments was winning first place in the 25-meter backstroke at the 8 & Under Championship meet as a six-year-old. The following year, she earned another first-place finish at the 8 & Under Classics meet in the 25-meter freestyle.
And while she loves racing, she admits she doesn’t always love practice—but spirit week is a different story! From shaving cream wars to surprise breakfasts and fun scavenger hunts with coaches, these moments are ones she’ll never forget.
Balancing Books and Sports
Even as her athletic schedule stays busy, Adeline keeps school her first priority. She works hard to finish her schoolwork before practice and knows that as she gets older, this balance will become even more important. Her commitment shows maturity beyond her years.
Lessons Learned Along the Way
Through swimming, Adeline has learned self-discipline and how to compete with a healthy mindset. Soccer has taught her teamwork, sportsmanship, and endurance. With supportive coaches and dedicated parents cheering her on, she continues to grow as both an athlete and a person.
Looking Ahead
Adeline dreams of continuing to break records in the pool and develop her skills on the soccer field. One day, she hopes to play sports in college. And beyond athletics? She wants to become a veterinarian because she loves animals—and with her determination, there’s no doubt she’ll make that happen.
Words of Wisdom
When asked what advice she has for other young athletes, Adeline doesn’t hesitate:
“Stay strong, have courage in all that you do, and always be brave.”
