Who is Fiona?
Each month, Fiona Furman serves as my Kids Korner Editor — and she was actually the very first editor to take on this important role. It has been such a pleasure getting to know Fiona and her wonderful family.
Fiona works incredibly hard every month to bring fresh, exciting stories highlighting the amazing kids in our neighborhood. Even while balancing school, gymnastics, and a busy schedule, she is always eager to help, stays organized, and makes sure everything is submitted on time.
This month, I wanted to turn the spotlight on her.
So, here’s a special feature all about Fiona! Thank you, Fiona, for being such an important part of the magazine and our Spaulding Farm community.
This month we’re excited to introduce a bright and talented member of our community!
Originally born in Syracuse, New York, this 12-year-old star moved to Spaulding Farm in 2018 after her dad made the move a year earlier. Now a proud 6th grader at Beck Academy, she has quickly made Greenville feel like home.
She’s an animal lover at heart and shares life with her pet, Evey Jean. Earlier this year she had to say goodbye to her beloved Maeve, who will always hold a special place in her heart.
When it comes to favorites, she has plenty! Christmas tops her list as the best holiday, and winter wins as her favorite season — because, as she says, “it has all the best holidays!” If she could pick a dream vacation, she’d pack her bags for the beaches of Belize.
She enjoys staying active and energetic, which makes P.E. her favorite subject and gymnastics her favorite sport. In fact, her lifelong dream is to become a professional gymnast one day and have a wonderful family of her own.
If she could have any superpower, she’d choose teleportation — no more long travel days!
Her entertainment favorites show her fun and thoughtful personality:
- Favorite Movie: A League of Their Own
- Favorite TV Show: Grantchester
- Favorite Book: Soof
- Favorite Author: Kate DiCamillo
- Favorite Song: Lost Boy
- Favorite Music: Country & Pop
- Favorite Artist: Tate McRae
When it’s time to shop or grab a bite, she knows exactly what she likes. You might spot her browsing Lululemon, enjoying chicken lo mein (her top food choice), or grabbing Chick-fil-A for a quick meal. Some favorite dining spots include Reubens in Greer and Tully’s back in Syracuse. And for dessert? A warm brownie skillet with ice cream is hard to beat!
She also has strong opinions on the great debates:

Her favorite color is baby blue, her favorite athlete is Olympic gymnast Suni Lee, and her dream job is to become an Animal Care Specialist — combining her love for animals with her caring personality.
With big goals, a kind heart, and lots of talent, there’s no doubt she has an exciting future ahead. We’re so lucky to have her as part of our community and part of Stroll Spaulding Farm!
