Avery Kuhlman
Sports/clubs:
I’ve participated in sports such as Ski Team, Track, and Cross Country. And clubs such as Peer Up and NHS.
Favorite Teacher from your time in Spring Lake Schools:
Mr. Andres is the Engineering and Architectural Design teacher here at Spring Lake. Through his efforts, I have not only developed a passion for architecture but was able to build my portfolio enough to gain scholarships from established universities. He encourages his students to think creatively and strategically.
Favorite Memory from your high school career:
Since I was a freshman, I've been on the Spring Lake Competitive Ski Team, and late-night practices at Mulligan's Hollow have been some of my favorite memories as a part of this school's community.
Post high school plans: I plan to study architecture at NYIT, pursuing a 5-year B.Arch. degree in Manhattan. I then plan on working for/developing a firm to help design commercial and private estates.
Advice to the future class:
Approach your classmates with compassion, be welcoming, and understand that the person sitting next to you may be going through the same hardship

Favorite Teacher from your time in Spring Lake Schools: Mr. Mitchell. AP Stats is my favorite class. He has made learning the subject really fun. I love his stories and the activities that we get to do during class.
Favorite memory from your high school career: Playing tennis with my friends and having a lot of fun during matches, even when we lost.
Post high school plans: I’m going to college at Aquinas and majoring in kinesiology and physical therapy.
Advice for the next class of seniors: Don’t overwork yourself; it’s supposed to be a fun and exciting year!

Sports/Clubs you participate in: Volleyball, Basketball, Lacrosse, Business Professionals of America, and Interact.
Favorite Teacher from Spring Lake Schools: Mr. Jewett. He was not only a great teacher for AP Economics, but he also took the time to get to know many other students, including me.
Favorite memory as a high school student?
Probably going to all the football games in the fall with my friends.

Advice for the next class of seniors: Don’t be too hard on yourself; you will end up at the college that is meant for you.

Favorite Teacher from your time at SLPS: I have had a lot of really good teachers over the years but I would have to say my favorite is Mr. Pantoja. He could always make us laugh, on good days and bad. Mr. Pantoja has such a great personality and made AP Language a lot of fun.
Favorite memory from high school: Disney trip freshman year for band.

My favorite memory was being elected Homecoming Queen! It was such an honor to be on the court and participate in the parade. But the highlight was the halftime show when I performed my trumpet solo in my gown!

Aurora (Rory) Miltgen
Sports/Clubs you participate in:
I love my clarinet and singing, and my favorite place to perform both is in the jazz band! Gosh, I just love a good Sammy Nestico, Benny Goodman, or Duke Ellington piece! I also love to sing at church, and using my talent to express my faith makes me feel so good inside. Another thing that I spend a lot of time doing is studying the Japanese language.
Favorite Teacher from your time in Spring Lake Schools:
Mr. Truszkowski, my jazz band teacher, gave me the chance to discover my love for vocal performance, and he helped me blossom as a clarinet performer as well!
Favorite Memory from your high school career:
The Western Michigan University jazz festival was in my junior year.
Post high school plans:
Initially, having been accepted into CMU for environmental science and music performance, but with careful thought, prayer, and counsel from my parents, I have decided to take a gap year. It will give me time to accomplish a few important personal and spiritual goals that don't fit into jumping into college right away.
Advice for the next class of seniors:
Honestly, even after being accepted to college, continue to focus on your grades. It will feel so much better to tie your high school career up with a bow, knowing that you did your best the whole time!

Favorite teacher at Spring Lake Schools: Mr. Warren is my favorite teacher because there isn't anything he can't do. Plus, he's a diehard Michigan fan.
Favorite memory from your high school career: Senior all-nighter.
Post high school plans: I want to pursue a career in Diesel Mechanics.

Sports/Clubs your particpated in: I participated in Cross Country, Track, Quiz Bowl, and Chess Club. I also belonged to the National Honor Society.
Favorite Teacher at Spring Lake Schools: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Olson. She managed to get me from hating English to actually enjoying it.
Favorite high school memory: My favorite memory was earning my varsity letter in Cross Country junior year.
Post high school plans: I will be attending the University of Michigan to study neuroscience.
Advice to upcoming seniors: Work hard now so that you don't have regrets later.
