This May, we are celebrating that connection by honoring both Mother's Day and their tireless dedication of the graduates in Spring Lake as they step into their next chapter. This milestone is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the collective encouragement from their families, teachers, coaches, and this community, so often spearheaded by a mother's endless patience and practice.

  

I just have to pause life for a minute and give a giant, confetti-throwing congratulations to one of my absolute favorite humans on the planet, my nephew, Tanyon Kubinski! From the time he was an infant, he’s been making pilgrimages to our beloved Michigan lakeshore every summer, and now, cue the waterworks, he’s graduating high school in San Luis Obispo, California. How did my tiny beach buddy turn into a bona fide young adult so fast?!

It seemed very appropriate this past summer, so we grabbed our magazine photographer, Alex Wisen, and hit up PJ Hoffmaster for Tan’s senior photos. Honestly, I’m getting teary-eyed just typing this….LOL, someone pass me a tissue!

This fall, Tanyon will be heading off to Cal Poly Technical University.  I hope that not only do all his dreams come true, but he always maintains that iconic sense of humor, takes lots of ‘mental photos’ along his journey, and never ceases to come visit his slightly chaotic auntie here in the Mitten state!
