The Stolen Marriage by Diane Chamberlain is a historical fiction novel set in the late 1940s. The story follows Tess DeMello, a young woman in North Carolina who, after a traumatic event, is forced to marry a man named Henry, whom she barely knows, in order to protect her reputation. Tess is initially unhappy in her marriage but soon becomes involved in the complexities of her new life, including the struggles of Henry’s family and the secrets surrounding their relationship.

The Making of June Farrow by Adrienne Young is a tale of love, mystery, and time travel set in a quiet Appalachian town. June Farrow unravels her family’s secrets while navigating a reality that feels like a collection of eerie memories. The plot twists hit you unexpectedly; they’re jarring but oddly satisfying. While some moments may leave you wondering what just happened, the emotions and captivating writing will keep you hooked. A perfect read if you enjoy small-town secrets with a side of thought-provoking intrigue.

Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It follows a group of musicians in the 1970s on their journey of creating a band and then a rock album and how the complexities of personalities can come into play. I enjoyed the book because the band members each tell their own version of the story. I like how this style allows you to see how different characters remember the events and make it more open to interpretation. The author was inspired by the Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ era and the relationship between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham

Kristin Hannah’s historical fictional books are my go to genre! The Great Alone transcends you back to 1974 after the Vietnam war following a daughter Lenora “Leni” and her parents as they make a sporadic decision to move to the great Alaskan wilderness. This is a family in crisis. Ernt Allbright suffers from PTSD leaving Leni and her mother Cora to be constantly walking on eggshells and suffering his abuse. It’s a portrait of human frailty and resilience that spans decades.
